Join us for the ultimate Summer Send-Off 5k, proudly presented by Sheridan & 11th Ward, on June 1st, 2024! Lace up your running shoes and gather your family for a day of fun, fitness, and community spirit.
Our family-friendly event welcomes participants of all ages, but remember, little ones must be accompanied by an adult for a safe and enjoyable experience. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just looking to enjoy a leisurely stroll in the summer sun, this event is perfect for everyone.
Not only will you be indulging in a morning of outdoor activity, but you'll also be contributing to a great cause. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Mark Sheridan Cross Country team, supporting the growth and development of young athletes in our community.
After the race, families are encouraged to bring along their favorite snacks and blankets to enjoy a relaxing picnic in the park, creating cherished memories and fostering community connections under the warm summer sun.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will parking be available?
Parking will be limited. We encourage walking or using public transportation, if possible! If you're driving, plan to arrive early with plenty of time to find street parking.
Can my child run the race if I'm not running it?
Kids 6 & under must be accompanied by an adult during the actual race. Children 7 & older can complete the race without an adult, but the adult must be present at the start & finish line.
Can we donate money as well or collect donations from friends & family?
Absolutely! You will be prompted for extra donations when you register, but can come back & donate any time as well.
I don't want to run the race, but I would love to volunteer. Where can I sign up?
Amazing! We'd love to have you! Volunteers will be asked to arrive at 7:00 AM for information & assignments. To sign up as a volunteer, go to: bit.ly/4dgCHMp or email us at summersendoff5krace@gmail.com and we'll point you in the right direction.
Can other people not associated with Mark Sheridan or the 11th Ward participate?
Absolutely! The more, the merrier!
What time does the race start?
The race starts at 8:30 AM.
How long will the course be open?
The course will be open for over an hour, which means it is walkable! If you'd like to walk the route, please be sure to start at the back of the corral.

Everyone & anyone who would like to participate!!
What is included in my registration price?
Your registration price includes timing on your bib and a medal. Your registration price also helps us pay for the security guards who are helping to keep us safe, the park space, and the White Sox lots we will be using for the race.
Can I push a stroller during the race?
Absolutely!! Strollers are welcome! We ask that all strollers start in the back of the corral for the safety of all participants. If you are bringing a young child who will remain in a stroller, you do not need to register that child.
