Description
Cats and Dogs 5k and 5 Hour Event
This year we will have a 5K race that will start at 8:00 and the 5-hour participants will start directly after the 5k takes off! The 5k will be on the Howl Loop. You can run on any trail, road, or path in the Park to participate in the 5-hour event. Howl this year will revert back to the original 3.29 mile loop, so this will be a great day to gauge your readiness for a Howl PR while raising funds for the Animal Shelter.
WHERE: Kennekuk County Preserve- Hideaway, 22296 Henning Rd, Danville, IL 61834. West of Danville, Illinois. Take I-74 to Exit 206 or 210 and follow the signs to the park.
DATE/TIME: Saturday, July 13, 2024. 5K will start at 8. The 5 hour event will start and stop anytime between 8 am and 1 pm. You will write your total miles on the board. Look for the dog bone with your name and add your mileage when you are done for the day.
COST: $35 to register for the 5k. 5k finishers will get a medal and a t-shirt. Race day registration will be available, but no t-shirt will be given to race day registrants.
The cost if you wish to participate in the 5-hour event is $30.00. You can buy a t-shirt separately when you sign up for the 5-hour event.
T-SHIRT CUTOFF DATE IS JULY 3, 2024.
We would ask that you bring donations for the animal shelter. Their website is listed below, and the Amazon wish list is available on their homepage. Tell your friends and family you are running with and for the dogs and cats of Vermilion County, and they can show support by bringing cash donations, food or pet supplies to the park that day. Pet supplies include newspaper, kitty litter, cleaning, grooming, collars, and leashes. KRR turns over every penny of profit to the DOGs & CATs.
REASON TO DO THIS: You’ll do something you love, enjoy the park, and get our furry friends what they need. The Shelter will have animals on sight. You can walk/run with a dog, and play with the cats.
WHAT TO EXPECT & WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU: New this year, we will have a food truck at the event. They will be serving breakfast and switching over to lunch options. Members and participants should bring their own drinks and snacks if using this event for Howl training. Don’t forget to bring your own lawn chairs!
SOMETHING SPECIAL: KRR WILL PAY THE ADOPTION FEES FOR THE FIRST ADOPTION!!!
