Event Description
Welcome to Stop 2: McCook 6.6K, part of the Solidarity Sidekick Down Route 66 Series — 18 community‑powered runs traveling the Illinois stretch of the historic Mother Road. Every mile supports ALS awareness and honors Enric Casacuberta’s courageous solo run down Route 66.
As a Sidekick, you’re not just running — you’re standing with ALS warriors, families, and Enric’s mission. Each stop highlights a new town, a new charm, and the same shared purpose.
Solidarity Sidekick—What it is
Solidarity Sidekick is the statewide movement supporting Enric Casacuberta’s solo run down Route 66 to raise awareness for ALS. Every participant becomes a “Sidekick” — running 6.6K and joining Enric in person for his first two miles in each Illinois town.
Each town was designated by Enric as his daily start point based on the mileage he plans to complete. The 18 Illinois stops follow the historic Route 66 corridor, connecting communities through movement, wellness, and purpose.
Series Rewards
Every participant receives one official series medal at their first completed stop. Each time you complete a stop, you’ll earn a new Route 66 charm to add to your medal — building your collection one town at a time.

McCook Charm
The McCook charm features the Lyons/McCook Route 66 identity, marking your second step along Illinois’ historic corridor. Attach it to your glow‑in‑the‑dark Illinois medal and continue building your Route 66 charm collection.

Mission
This series raises funds and awareness for ALS, honoring those living with the disease and supporting Enric as he runs the entire Route 66 corridor to shine a light on the ALS community. Every registration fuels the mission.
