NOTE Race Update NEW Locations: Due to the ongoing construction delays Rock Cut State Park has decided not to let us hold the this event at the park this year. We have had the races at Rock Cut as we have for the past 14 years. However do to ongoing construction in the park as we noted here from the beginning there was a chance that we may have to go to our fall back plan and hold this years races at a different location. We have now had to change venues for this year we plan to return to Rock Cut for the 2020 Hobo races.
All of the race distances will remain the same as will the dates and times for the races.
New Locations for the 2019 Hobo runs Blackhawk Springs Forest Preseve for the 10k Friday evening race located at 4998 S. Mulford Rd. The Saturday 25k & Sunday 50k & 25k will be run at Deer Run Forest Preserve 5691 River Rd,
Choose to do a single events or pick the challenging Triple Crown all three races 85k or the Triple Crown "Lite" 60k with the 10k on Friday evening then a 25k Sat. & Sun. Friday Nite's 10k is an evening trail race. Bring running lights, headlamps, flashlights, etc. Trail will be marked with signage, glow sticks.and reflective markers. This is a trail race in the dark the park closes at 10:00 pm all runners must be finished by 9:30 in order to leave park before closing. Note we did say that the 10k is a trail race run in the dark on trails be sure you have practiced running on trails in the dark so you know what you are setting out to do.
10k will start near the Blackhawk Springs Shelter, Friday Sept. 13, - 7:00pm start - Runners must be finished by 9:30 in order to be out of the park by 10:00 - gates are locked.
25k will start and finish at Deer Run Forest Presereve, Saturday Sept. 14, - 8:00am start - Course is supported for 5 hours on Saturday. Doing your first 25k? The couse on Sunday is supported for 8 hours .
50k & 25k will start and finish at the Deer Run Forest Preserve, Sunday Sept. 15, - 8:00am start - Course is supported for 8 hours.
Triple Crown Award for those who run all three races "85k" each will receive a Hobo Railroad Spike Award. Triple Crown finishers will also receive special hoodie sweatshirt.
Triple Crown "Lite" Award for those who run all three races "60k" - will receive a Hobo Railroad Spike Award. Triple Crown "Lite" finishers will receive a special lite weight sweatshirt.

Awards: 10k/25k/50k: Hobo Railroad Spikes to Overall Male/Female and Top 3 each age group 0-14,15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+ (Note 25k/50k age groups begin with 0-19) All FINISHERS of the Triple Crown will receive a special 3 spike award

Note 25k & 50k course map - 25k will be 2 loops and 50k will be 4 loops of the 7.75 mile course.
RRCA designates events to be State Championship Races. Rockford Road Runners has been designated to host two Championship Races for 2019. The Hobo 50k is the State of Illinois Championship Ultra Race.
RRCA as also designated RRR's SwedishAmerican State Street Mile to be the 2019 National Championship Mile Race.
All of the following are some of the things not allowed in Rockford Road Runners for the safety of all participants; strollers, baby Joggers, animals, and bicycles. Race official’s decision are final. If you are uncertain always ask first.
No tables, tents, promotional activities, or sales are permitted at Rockford Road Runner events without prior written approval of the event. Requests can be made to admin@rockfordroadrunners.org
