Are you ready for some FUN, lots of color, some crazy costumes, informal, not timed, a great cause, oh and FUN.
This race now in its fifth year is being organized by an amazing group of volunteers. We are excited to help bring people together, raise awareness and to show veterans that there is hope. The committee has been busy planning and has some exciting additions for the 2019 race. We will once again have competitions for best costumes (we can’t wait to see what people come up with!), biggest team, furthest traveled and more. There will also be raffles, prizes AND photo ops with some of the service dogs.
We were so thrilled to meet our fundraising goal last year of making the $25,000 goal. By achieving this, we were able to fully sponsor the training of a PTSD service dog, and offset all of the expenses associated with bringing a deserving veteran to the This Able Veteran campus for three weeks for the Trauma Resiliency Program. That $25,000 also provided housing, training equipment and most all of their meals at NO cost to the veteran. The participants of the race had the opportunity to vote on the name of the dog, and if you haven't yet heard, the dog's name is going to be Ranger!
This year, we are shooting for the stars – we have set a goal of $50,000. That's right - we are aiming to forever change the lives of TWO veterans by providing them with PTSD service dogs.
We hope you’ll consider putting a team together and help us in getting the word out. As a walk/run, people of all ages can come out and have fun – and we couldn’t be any less formal than we are at the “really close to almost 5k color walk/run” – the name kinda says it all!
Thank you for your support! We look forward to a morning of colorful fun and the planting of a seed of hope for one of our future graduates. See you at the race!
Please note: We recommend all runners wear goggles while running through color stations. Children age 5 and under can run/walk free but must have one adult per child. Parent/legal guardian must sign a waiver on the day of the race or at the pre-registration locations. We encourage you to have the child wear swimming goggles to protect their eyes from the powder. T-shirts are not included for children participating for free but will be included if they are a paid race participant.
