Are you ready for some FUN, lots of color, some crazy costumes, informal, not timed, a great cause, oh and FUN.
This year’s race is once again co-sponsored by Rotary District 6510 and is being organized by myself, Julie Hoskins, race director, and an amazing group of volunteers. We are excited to help bring people together, raise awareness and to show veterans that there is hope. The committee has been busy planning and have some exciting additions for the 2018 race. For the first time, we will have competitions for best costumes (we can’t wait to see what people come up with!), biggest team, furthest traveled and more. There will also be raffles, prizes AND photo ops with some of the service dogs.
In addition to the new fun stuff, we are setting some outrageously optimistic goals that you can help us meet! As the saying goes, “the more the merrier” and that is SO true with a color run! We hope to have 1500 people this year (that’s adding about 500 from last year’s race) and to raise $25,000. That $25,000 will fully-fund a PTSD service dog’s training AND bring their veteran to our campus for three weeks, provide housing, training equipment and most all of their meals at NO cost to the veteran. If we meet this goal, the race will have sponsored a veteran/service dog team and you will get to help pick out the dog name!
We hope you’ll consider putting a team together and help us in getting the word out. As a walk/run, people of all ages can come out and have fun – and we couldn’t be any less formal than we are at the “really close to almost 5k color walk/run” – the name kinda says it all!
Thank you for your support! We look forward to a morning of colorful fun and the planting of a seed of hope for one of our future graduates. See you at the race!
Please note: We recommend all runners wear goggles while running through color stations. Children age 5 and under can run/walk free but must have one adult per child. Parent/legal guardian must sign waiver on the day of the race or at the pre-registration locations. We encourage you to have the child wear swimming goggles to protect their eyes from the powder. T-shirts are not included for children participating for free, but will be included if they are a paid race participant.
