From the RD: Run the best course of its kind in the Midwest.  Don’t wait to see what the weather will be – Its the Midwest and it’s January❄ In past years we have had wind chills with a low of 2° and a high of 19° with scattered clouds, -20° wind chill, freezing rain, snow, heavy rain, ankle deep mud and two days in the 60s.  So register early, save lots of money & don’t worry about the weather because you will have fun running and partying. 

Grand Slam Event #1: Complete the Siberian Express, Mountain Goat, Lake Mingo Trail Run, and Wild Wild Wilderness in 2025 to earn an awesome award, presented at the Wild Wild Wilderness race.  

Location: Kickapoo State Recreation Area Take I-74 to exit 210 and follow the signs to the park.  Address is: 10906 Kickapoo Park Rd, Oakwood IL 61858. 

Course: The 7.45-mile course is 95% trail, and heads east out of the park before turning into the woods, where the adventure really begins.  You will climb and descend steep hills, cross creeks and bridges, and if you are lucky, see some dee and other wildlife.  This is a scenic and challenging run.  

Aid Stations: Due to the weather and time of year there are no aid stations on this course so pack your race day essentials accordingly. 

Online Registration Dates: Open till January 2, 2025  

Online Registration Fee: $40 SIGN UP BEFORE THE PRICE INCREASES ON DECEMBER 1, 2024 

Race Day Registration: Available from 9:30 am to 10:45 cash or check and the cost is $50.  Checks can be made payable to KRR.  Race Day Registration does not include a race shirt/sweatshirt. 

T-shirt Cutoff Date: December 11,2024– You must register online by this date to order a shirt/sweatshirt.  There may be a small selection of shirts available for purchase at a cost of $22 for the Long Sleeve Shirts or $30 for the Sweatshirt at the after party but there are no guarantees.  Visit the Store Tab above to purchase the shirt/sweatshirt ONLY. 

Packet Pickup: Packet will include your bib, shirt and pins and can be picked up on race day from 9:30 am to 10:45 am.  The location for pickup is at Kickapoo State Park Maintenance Building.   

Time Limit: Course closes at 1:00 pm (no finisher award after this time, you are on your own) 

Regulations: No bandits, radios, strollers, or dogs allowed.  No shirts or awards will be mailed.  No refunds or bib transfers. You must be present to win any drawings at the post race party.

Post Race Party: Immediately following the race, the party will be at Vermilion River Brewing Company. Drinks are courtesy of the Kennekuk Road Runners but there will be a food truck at your own cost parked outside.  The address for VRBC is: 103 N Vermilion St, Danville IL 61832. 

Finisher Awards: will be presented to the first 200 runners as you cross the finish line. 

Age Group Awards: N/A
