Description

A 5K Run/Walk to Benefit the Veterans Drop-In Center in Rockford, IL.  This is our 8th annual run and will, again, be held at Mercyhealth Sportscore One,  Veterans Memorial Park!  The run is on a beautiful course now running over to the Winnebago Forest Preserve and doing a loop around the pond.  This run is USATF certified (IL19039NM) and is a 2020 RRR Circuit Race.  See more information about the RRR Circuit at www.rockfordroadrunners.org  *** Note - due to the Covid guidelines and doing wave times - the course will be altered slightly this year to accommodate leaving the street open and accommodating wave start corrals.  We will be back to our normal USAFT certified course next year!  This is still a timed event!

Covid-19 Updates (09/16/20):

We are planning to move forward with our race on November 14, 2020 and have approval from the Winnebago County Health Department.   The Winnebago County Health Department has determined this Event to be a low risk and a minimal public health concern if oversight is enforced.

Your safety is of the utmost importance to us.  This event will take place only if we are confident that we can put safety measures in place to make this event a fun, but safe event.

You may register for a "wave", which will be 50 people or less, starting at 9 am with two seperate start lines, each start line having 30 min waves.  We are capping the event at 400 participants this year.   Arrival times will be communicated.

*We will create a safe and effective way to pick-up packets; possibly including drive-thru if necessary.

*Masks must be worn at all times until your wave is in the start corral and give the ok to remove only to run.  Masks must be worn once you have finished the course.

*Temperatures will be checked and waiver forms required to check-in.

*Finisher medals will be handed out by someone with gloves and a mask.  Please do not grab a medal - wait for them to hand it to you.

*There will be no awards ceremony.  We will have a location TBD to pick up Dog Tag Awards and cash prizes.

*Spectators limited to 1 family member if possible.

More details to follow in an athlete's guide coming at a later date.

*New this year - Can't make the physical race?  Not comfortable coming out yet?   Try our Virtual 5K and still support our Veterans.
