The Springfield Bicycle Club voted to cancel the 2020 Capital City Century.
Every September, we look forward to hosting around 500 riders of all levels from around the midwest to explore the Springfield countryside by bicycle. Unfortunately, after evaluating the current situation surrounding COVID-19 and the need to maintain the safety of our riders and the viability of the community we have made the difficult decision to postpone the 48th Annual Capital City Century until September 12, 2021. To ensure the health and well-being of everyone involved, we feel strongly the postponement is the best course of action to take at this time. We greatly appreciate your patience as we have been putting the plan into place. It is important that we carefully work through our next steps with the many community partners, volunteers, and organizations involved.
We are pleased to let you know that we will be doing the 2020 planned route in 2021. It is a wonderful route and we know how much everyone was looking forward to it.
Online registration for the 2021 Capital City Century will open on January 1, 2021.
Additional ride information can be found at http://www.capcitycentury.com/.
The Springfield Bicycle Club is proud to present the latest edition of the Capital City Century (CCC), one of the oldest and most popular recreational bicycle rides in Illinois. Join us for a scenic, one-day ride on low-traffic roads in Sangamon and Christian County, Illinois. Beginner or seasoned cyclist, there's a distance for everyone. Fuel up at one of our aid stations, and enjoy peace of mind knowing that SAG support is just a text away in the event of a mechanical issue. After your ride, get your picture taken with Abe Lincoln to commemorate the day, and sit down to a post-ride meal.
Proceeds from the CCC help the Springfield Bicycle Club fund local bicycle advocacy, bicycle-friendly activities and charitable donations.
2020 Riders Will Receive:
Trek Bike Giveway! Each registered rider will have once chance to be entered into a drawing for a Trek Checkpoint. Example of bike to be given away (color choice may vary):
