NAMI Sauk Area 5K

We will be providing an in-person 5K along with virtual events for those who can not attend in person.  We will follow CDC and Whiteside County Health Department recommendations for this event to keep everyone safe.  Updates will be made on this page and on our facebook page (NAMI Sauk Area 5K) the week of the race. We are offering "in person" registration as well as "virtual".  If you enter the in person 5K, we will require you to enter a time so that we can stage heats if needed to deal with number requirements for the event.  

 If you choose virtual, please take a picture of yourself and upload it to our facebook page (NAMI Sauk Area 5K).  Virtual events will be awarded separately from in person events.

NAMI stands for National Alliance on Mental Illness.  NAMI Sauk Area's goal is to use this fundraiser to assist our group in raising awareness of the support families need when dealing with a loved one or friend who is living with a mental illness.  Money raised from this event will facilitate training for CIT officers, help pay for Family 2 Family manuals, training for instructors in NAMI based programs and instructional brochures. NO PETS on race course!  

Pre-registered participants can pick up their swag and bib on Friday, July 9th at the first shelter in Sinnissippi Park in Sterling from 4-6 p.m. or Saturday a.m. at Hoover Park (red building behind Woodlawn Arts Academy) from 7-7:45 a.m.  Race starts at 8:00 a.m.

Race day registrations are accepted from 7:00-7:45 a.m.

Awards for virtual races will be a participation medal which will be mailed with the swag items.  

In person 5K awards will be as follows:

Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age group:  Under 10, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and Over

Team or Corporate Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 finishers.

Bib and Swag pickup

Registered participants can pick up their bib and swag at the following times:

Friday, July 9th, Sinnissippi Park Sterling, (first shelter in the park) 4:00-6:00 p.m.

Saturday, July 10th, Hoover Park (red building behind Woodlawn Arts Academy) 7:00-7:45 a.m.  Race starts at 8:00 a.m.

Pets and Strollers

Pets are not allowed on the race course during the race and warm-ups of the NAMI Sauk Area 5K

Strollers are allowed with walkers in the race.  Please allow the runners to lead the pack, followed by walkers, followed by walkers with strollers

Weather Plan

If there is severe weather during the race, please seek shelter in one of the pavilions in Sinnissippi Park or the Red Barn and Hoover Park.  

If the race needs to be cancelled due to weather, it will be posted on the Facebook page (NAMI Sauk Area 5K) and an e-mail will be sent out to all registered participants.

Bag / Key Check

There will be a bag check in for race participants.  You will find this under the tent by the swag bags and t-shirts. NAMI Sauk Area is NOT responsible for any items checked.

Food Tent

A boxed lunch will be provided along with water and gatorade to all participants.  The food will be prepared and wrapped by a licensed restaurant kitchen.
