2015 CAPS Superhero 5K and Sidekicks Family Fun Run

Pull your favorite cape out of storage, don your masks and get ready to be a superhero for kids with CAPS!

CAPS (Child And Parent Services) knows a lot of local heroes who help keep kids safe and strengthen families in Elkhart County. For Child Abuse Prevention Month in April, CAPS invites you to become a superhero for kids at the first annual Superhero 5K run/walk.

Form a Super Team!

Run or walk alone or grab a few friends or family members to form a super team (minimum of four runners/walkers, runners and walkers can mix)! Everyone is also invited to collect pledges and donations for Child And Parent Services to help us in our mission of eliminating child abuse in Elkhart County. And of course, kids, families and dogs are welcome to come out and dress up as your favorite heroes as well!

Create a fundraising page to be a hero for CAPS!

Raise funds for CAPS as a team or by yourself at Classy.org! Go to http://bit.ly/5ksuperteams and create a free Classy profile (or connect your Facebook account to create it even faster), then hit the "Become a Fundraiser" button to create your own fundraising page that you can share with friends and family to collect donations online. Once you've done that, you can create or join a super team to pool your fundraising efforts together and aim for bigger goals! We will be giving out awards at the race for the most successful fundraisers as we strive for our goal of $5,000!

You are a superhero no matter how you cross the finish line! You may either want to challenge yourself by running a 5K or walking the 5K; both options are available at the same price!

Bring your favorite sidekicks along for a 300 meter fun run! This race is for our future superheroes, so we encourage anyone older than 12 to cheer as loud as you can from the sidelines! If you don't want to run or walk in either event, you can still register under the Sidekicks Fun Run to help us keep count of how many people are coming.

Donate to Adopt a Runner

Donate an additional $25 to Adopt a Runner, covering the registration fee for a CAPS client to run in the 5K.

There will be awards for top three overall male and female runners as well as recognition for the best adult, group and child superhero or supervillain costume. There will also be food and drinks available. Consider bringing a picnic blanket and/or lawn chairs to sit out in the park area behind the pavilion while you eat and wait between events.

Hang out with comic book heroes and villains!

Superheroes and villains from Elkhart's own Hall of Heroes Superhero Museum will be on hand to pose for pictures and cheer on our runners. Chip timing and official race services will be organized by Stone Soup Promotions in Elkhart.
