What does Walk Like Woodie celebrate?

FIRST Indiana Robotics (FIN) is hosting Walk Like Woodie, a 5K Run-Walk fundraiser on Saturday, October 10, 2026 in Broad Ripple Park, Indianapolis. This event is in celebration of Dr. Woodie Flowers and the ethos he developed for FIRST Robotics.

Walk Like Woodie is a family-friendly event that invites the community to engage and learn about FIRST Indiana Robotics and its mission through a fun and dynamic charity Run-Walk. The event will highlight Gracious Professionalism and share the legacy of Dr. Woodie Flowers. Local FIRST teams will lead interactive STEM activities during the event, as well as showcase their competition robots.

As the local nonprofit serving as the FIRST program delivery organization for Indiana, FIN believes that improving our world starts with our youth.The backbone of our mission lies in delivering world-class STEM education and robotics programs for grades K-12 to over 14,000 students across the state.

FIN inspires young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, and fosters well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership. Expanding access to the FIRST programs across the state boosts the number of Hoosier students entering the Indiana tech workforce and gives them the skills they need to thrive.

• 7:45am - Packet pick up

• 9:00am - Race starts (wave start)

• 9:30am - 11:00am - FIRST Robotics STEM activities and demos
