                                                                                                              Remembering Salvador Mujica- Scholarship:

This year, Salvador was a dedicated participant in our 100-mile bike ride event. His tragic loss has profoundly impacted our community.  Salvador was hit and killed while riding by a driver experiencing a medical emergency. His commitment to our cause and his vibrant spirit will always be remembered. In his honor, StRides Against Suicide & Overdose is establishing an annual scholarship in his name.  This scholarship will support individuals in Northwest Indiana who need mental health and substance abuse treatment but cannot afford it.

Thank you for joining us in remembering Salvador and continuing his legacy of compassion and support.

Strides Overview

We are addressing a critical issue that affects countless lives in our community. Our mission is to provide essential mental health and substance abuse treatment to those who need it most. Did you know that 42% of adults with a mental illness report being unable to access the care they need due to cost?  Our solution is to fund that treatment. Profits from the StRides Against Suicide and Overdose will be used to provide scholarships for mental health and substance abuse treatment for clients who are uninsured or cannot afford treatment. We partner with LPA Counseling to award these scholarships in Northwest Indiana.

For six years, StRides Against Suicide & Overdose has been at the forefront of this mission. With your support, we’ve provided treatment sessions for nearly 100 individuals who otherwise could not afford care.  One veteran, reflecting on their journey, shared, “…chances are that without [StRides Against Suicide & Overdose], I would not be here today…” This powerful testimony highlights the life-changing impact of our work and the critical need for support. Through the funds raised at our event, we will continue to offer scholarships for those in need and hope to expand the scholarship to more and more people.

Your involvement is vital to our success. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in reducing the heartbreaking rates of suicide and overdose!
Thank you for being apart of this important mission.
