98th Annual running of Mount Marathon

Join the community of Seward for the 98th annual running of the Mount Marathon Race.
The men’s and women’s course is a grueling 1.5-mile climb up, and back down, Alaska’s majestic and treacherous Mount Marathon. Runners from around the world join Seward residents and runners from around Alaska, in pursuit of a common goal: to win, place, or simply complete this iconic footrace.

Registration Opens In
The registration process depends on whether you have priority entry or not.
- If you are a PRIORITY entrant, you will receive an email inviting you to register between March 1-31. If you know you have priority, but you do not receive an email, contact director@mountmarathon.com. You can check your priority status on our main web site here.
- If you are entering the LOTTERY, you must join the Mount Marathon Lottery Group, then you will be able to enter the lottery event back on this page. Note that this two step process and after entering the lottery group you must return to this page to enter the lottery event for your division and pre-authorization a payment for your race registration. You will only be charged for your race registration if you win the lottery.
- Lottery results will be announced in early April. If you win, you will be notified automatically of your entry and your payment will be automatically processed.
