Description

The Davis Stampede takes place each year in February, and includes 5K, 10K and Half Marathon routes. We also offer a family friendly 2K (1.24 mile) fun run/walk division that is perfect for younger athletes, families, and pups. Starting and finishing at Davis’ Playfields Park, the Davis Stampede is a great way to kick off 2025 with a commitment to fitness. Courses are mostly flat and take runners and walkers through east and south Davis’s greenbelts and neighborhood streets. Race amenities include finisher’s medals, half marathon pace groups, t-shirts, a post-race expo, and course water stations stocked with water and electrolyte replacement along the course.

Registration will open on October 31, 2024.

Please register early! Last year's Half Marathon sold out.

Start Times:

8:00 a.m. - Half Marathon and 10K
8:10 a.m. - 5K
9:00 a.m. - 2K
last updated 10/2024

Entry Includes:

Blend performance short sleeved t-shirt, finisher medal, chip timing, eligibility for division awards. Option to upgrade to a long sleeve technical (100% polyester) shirt for $8; available while supplies last. You also may opt out of the short sleeve t-shirt and save $5.

Packet Pick Up:

You can pick up your packet (bib and shirt) on Saturday, February 22 [TIME AND PLACE TBA]. We allow you to pick up for friends, and ID is not required.  You can also pick up on race day (Feb. 23) starting at 6:30 a.m. If picking up on race day, we suggest arriving at least one hour prior to your race start. If you have your QR code available at check-in, it will speed up the process for you.

Safety pins will be available at registration. On race morning, please pin your race bib to the clothing on the FRONT of your body so that it is visible to timing officials, course monitors, and race photographers.

Overall and Age Group Awards:

Overall awards will be presented to the top male, female and nonbinary finishers based on gun time. Age group awards will be determined by net time and will be awarded to the top three male, female, and nonbinary registrants per age group. Registrants may decline to state their gender and / or age, however, those entrants will not be eligible for age group or overall awards or results ranking in those categories.  Award pick up is available on race day; unclaimed awards are not mailed. Awards also presented to the top three finishers in each special division. See section below for more detailed information on age groups and special divisions.

Participate Virtually:

Those who are unable to attend on event day or who would prefer to participate on their own schedule may register as a virtual participant. Virtual packets will be mailed on or about 2/28/25 and will include a bib, finisher medal for the division you designate upon entry, and t-shirt (if selected). Virtual participants are welcome to pick up their packets at the Saturday Packet Pick Up if preferred. The deadline to sign up as a Virtual Participant is Thursday, February 20. The last day to request a switch from an in-person division to the virtual division (in cases of injury, change of plans, illness, etc.) is February 23 at 11:59 pm and this may be done via email.  Virtual participants may upload their results online here by following these steps: (1) search name in upper right-hand corner; (2) next to name, click 'edit time'; (3) input your finish time in the format of HH:MM:SS and provide other requested information. Times may be submitted from February 23 through March 22, although you may complete your run/walk any time that works for you after time of registration. Submitting a time is optional and not required. There are no age group or overall awards for the virtual divisions.

Half Marathon:

Half Marathon course cut-off time is 3.5 hours or 11:30 a.m. Those on a pace to finish after this time will be offered a ride back to the finish line.

Minimum age to participate in the Half Marathon is 15. Consideration will be made on a case by case basis for youth 14 and under to participate in the Half Marathon who are sufficiently trained; must be accompanied by an adult (who must be registered). Send your request to acopfoundation@gmail.com by February 12th.

Water/fluid stations will be located approximately every two miles and will offer water and electrolyte replacement. Please carry nutrition or salt with you should it be a part of your training/racing regimen.

Strollers, Dogs, Wagons, and Wheels:

Wheelchair entrants may participate in all divisions. Racing wheelchairs should start at the front and coordinate with event official; pushed or casual wheelchair entrants should start toward the back. Pushed wheelchairs should start towards the back. Adaptive Divisions in the 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon.  Please note: half marathon has approximately 1/4 mile on crushed gravel by Barovetto Park plus about 1 mile on trail (service road around Wildhorse Golf Course). 5K or 10K entrants wishing to push a stroller MUST start toward the back of the pack at the starting line, no exceptions.  In the 2K, strollers, dogs, wagons (for children or dogs) and wheelchairs are permitted. Wagons must have seatbelts if children are inside them. Those with dogs or strollers should line up behind the runners who are participating without a dog/stroller. Dogs must be on a nonretractable leash, well behaved in crowds and around other dogs, and owners must clean up after their pet. It is not suggested that children under age 11 run unaccompanied in the 2K.

Timing:

Because this even utilizes chip timing for all events, we remind participants that there is no need to crowd the start line when the race starts; your time does not start until you physically cross the mats at the starting line. All age group awards and results placements, except for the top overall finishers (i.e. first 3 per gender across the finish line), are determined by chip/net time.

Guides/Support Runners for Adaptive Entrants:

If you are a sighted guide for a visually impaired participant, or a support runner/walker for an entrant in an adaptive category, please do not enter the adaptive division. Support Runners (including sighted guides) must be registered for the event either as a standard paid entrant or as a support runner. To register for the support runner/walker category, select "Support Runner" choice at registration (end of list). Those registering as a support runner will not be eligible for age group awards nor be ranked by age.   In the case that support runners  wish to receive the full race experience (eligible for awards, ranked by age division, etc) in that case they should register for the distance they are going to run/walk (Half Marathon, 5K, etc) instead of as a Support Runner, but be sure to not enter an Adaptive Division. Email acopfoundation@gmail.com with any questions prior to registering.

Notes:
- We suggest that support runners/walkers and guides wear high visibility clothing or a vest indicating that they are a guide or a support runner. However, it is not required.
- Please do not register as a Support Runner if you do not already have an athlete you are paired with. At this time we do not have a matching program, but will post if there are adaptive entrants seeking support runners.
- Please email us at acopfoundation@gmail.com with any questions.

Age Groups, Special Divisions, & Awards

Age group awards will be determined by net time and will be awarded to the top three male, female, and nonbinary registrants per age group. Registrants may decline to state their gender and / or age, however, those entrants will not be eligible for age group or overall awards or results ranking in those categories.  Award pick up is available on race day; unclaimed awards are not mailed.

Special Divisions:

Special Divisions are an additional division in the 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon that participants can enter in addition to their age group. We have created these categories to make this event unique, inclusive, and fun for people who are a part of the below groups. Entering a special division will not remove you from your age group and you will still be ranked and eligible for age division awards. Participants may enter one special division only.  Wheelchair entrants will be scored separately and eligible for overall as well as age group and special division awards. All special divisions will be scored and ranked by NET time, which is the elapsed time from when you cross the start line to when you cross the finish line. Take your time at the start and don't rush to cross the starting line when the horn is blown.

There is no fee to enter a special division.

Special Divisions are as follows:

Baby Jogger/Stroller Division:
  • This is for parents, guardians, grandparents, and caregivers who will be pushing a child in a baby jogger / stroller in the 5K, 10K, or Half Marathon.
  • Please note that strollers MUST NOT START AT THE FRONT of the starting line for safety reasons.
  • Do not enter this division if starting towards the back will inhibit you from reaching your race goals such as desired pace or age group ranking.
  • If two people will be pushing a stroller/participating together, only one should enter the stroller division.
  • Must be 16+ to enter this category.
  • Awards to the top three finishers by gender.
Dog Division:
  • Dogs must be well behaved, including: not barking at other dogs in crowds, no jumping (at people or other dogs), comfortable around lots of people and noise, obedient on leash, and on a non-retractable leash.
  • Absolutely NO dogs in the first 100 feet of the line up for start for the 5K, 10K, or Half Marathon. Be prepared to start towards the back.
  • Do not enter this division if starting towards the back will inhibit you from reaching your race goals such as desired pace or age group ranking.
  • Dogs in dog strollers are permitted, but not eligible for a 'top dog' award. Do not enter dog division if your dog will be carried or pushed.
  • If you plan to run a fast pace (eg 8:00 or better) and try for an age division award, we suggest you do not run with a dog, because you will be required to start towards the back.
  • If two people will be running with one dog, you should only enter dog division on one of the human's entries (not both).
  • Must be 16+ to enter this category unless accompanied the entire time by an adult.
  • Anyone participating with a dog must clean up after their pet.
Cancer Champions' Cancer Survivor Division.

This division is for anyone who is currently receiving or has received treatment for cancer (any type) and would like to be recognized in this division.
A special second bib, designed as a survivors bib, will be available for pick up for all entrants in this division at the Cancer Champions tent on race day. (Optional). Be sure to check in at registration for your race bib and t-shirt as usual.
