2.2 for 22 Run/Walk/Obstacle Course at LPC 1/25/2025 (Draft)

 

THE 2025 2.2 FOR 22 CHALLENGE

Our annual 2024 2.2 for 22 Challenge for Veterans has been postponed to January 2025 and will now become the 2.2 for 22 Run/Walk/Obstacle Course at LPC! We will no longer be holding the challenge virtually. This event will take place at Las Positas Community College on January 25, 2025 at the Las Positas College Track and Field from 9 am to 12 pm.   

The primary goal of the 2.2 for 22 event is to raise awareness about the distressing fact that 22 veterans succumb to suicide each day. While the event initially focused on engaging the Las Positas College community and the local area, it became evident last year that the message resonated well beyond these boundaries. Participants from various parts of the United States and even services members stationed as far away as Afghanistan took part in the event.

Although the official kickoff for the 2.2 for 22 events will be on January 25, 2025, individuals can register and make donations. Upon registration, participants will receive a 2.2 for 22 T-shirt and a commemorative finisher medal. Event organizers strongly encourage participants to complete as many challenges as they can or even attempt all of them. Participants are also welcome to join or create teams to enjoy the event together. Both individual and team results will be displayed on a progress board accessible to anyone visiting the website, fostering a spirit of friendly competition. Participants are encouraged to share pictures of themselves taking on the challenges using the hashtag #CHALLENGE22FORVETERANS (last year’s pictures can be found below).

This is not longer virtual! The entire event is in person, featuring a new obstacle course challenge that will test participants’ physical, social, and emotional capabilities, including a 2.2K Run/Walk (9 laps on the track).Event T-shirts, medals, and drawstring bags will be on site on the day of the event.
