How the Prediction Run Works

Submit your estimated 5K finish time when registering. Instead of a single mass start, we use a countdown clock set to the slowest predicted time.

• Staggered Start: Slower runners start first, middle-of-the-pack runners follow, and the fastest runners start last. If everyone predicts perfectly, everyone finishes at the exact same time.
• The Blind Finish: Once the last runner starts, the clock is covered. You will not see the time as you approach the finish line, so you won't know whether to sprint or slow down.
• Gauge Your Strategy: Running completely alone late in the race means your prediction was off. Crossing the line surrounded by a crowd means you nailed your estimate.

Start Time Examples (10:00 AM Base)

The clock starts counting down from 50:00 at 10:00 AM. Your predicted time dictates your exact start time:

• 50+ Minutes: Starts before 10:00 AM
• 50 Minutes: Starts at 10:00 AM
• 40 Minutes: Starts at 10:10 AM
• 30 Minutes: Starts at 10:20 AM

Race Rules & Restrictions

• No Timing Assistance: Watches, GPS devices, or any wearables that track time are strictly prohibited.
• No Headphones or Earbuds: Audio devices are not allowed so participants can hear course calls ("On your left!").
• No Pets or Strollers: For insurance and safety reasons, no pets or strollers (including jogging strollers) are permitted on the course.
