The Red S.H.O.E. (Self-Care, Healthy Options & Exercise) 5K Walk/Run is proudly sponsored by the Athens Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, an organization of college-educated women committed to empowering communities through public service, scholarships, and social action.
On Saturday, April 18, 2026, the Athens Alumnae Chapter will host its inaugural Red S.H.O.E. 5K Run/Walk, a community-centered, fun-filled event designed to promote physical and mental health and wellness. This event invites participants from Athens and the surrounding areas to engage in self-care, healthy lifestyle choices, and regular physical activity. Research has shown that both running and walking have a positive impact on overall physical and mental well-being, and we are excited to offer an opportunity that celebrates both health and community connection.
Event proceeds will support the chapter’s five programmatic thrusts, including impactful community service initiatives and scholarships for college-bound high school seniors.

Course
The start and finish are located near the sunflowers in Dudley Park. This is an out and back course.
T-Shirts
If you would like a t-shirt for this race register by March 31, 2026. After that date t-shirts will not be available. There is a No-Shirt option that will give a $5.00 discount at the time of payment.
Awards
Overall awards are given to Overall Male / Female, Masters Male/Female
Age group awards are given to Male and Female Age Groups, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for:
10-year age group: 10 and Under 11-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 and Over

All sponsors except Crimson and Cream will have their name on the back of the t-shirt.
Platinum - $1500 (2 T-shirts, 2 registrations, 2 water bottles, 2 wristbands)
Diamond - $1000 (T-shirt, 1 registration, water bottle, wristband)
Gold - $500 (T-shirt, water bottle, wristband)
Silver - $250 (T-shirt, wristband)
Crimson - $100 (T-shirt)
Cream - Under $100 (Wristband)

Virtual Option
Run your 3.1 miles anywhere. Submit your finish time by clicking on the RESULTS tab at the top of this page. Submit finish times no later than 12 noon on April 18, 2026. To submit a virtual time you must be registered as a virtual runner.
Virtual runners are not eligible for t-shirts or race day awards.

What if it rains?
We get wet! Race start time may be delayed in 15-minute increments if storms are in the area. Sorry, no refunds due to inclement weather.
