Cycling may be what brings everyone to Downtown Plainfield on August 29, but this year we’re adding a brand-new challenge that runners and spectators won’t want to miss.

The inaugural Designated Runner NA Beer Mile presented by DNA Plainfield combines speed, strategy, and plenty of laughs in one of the most spectator-friendly events of the day. Whether you’re chasing a fast time or just looking to have fun with friends, this is your chance to be part of something unique.

Limited to just 100 participants, the event features four heats of 25 runners competing on a 400-meter course in the heart of the Commercial Street Criterium. Expect a lively atmosphere, crowds, and nonstop entertainment as runners tackle four laps while enjoying four non-alcoholic beers from Go Brewing. 

Not racing? You’ll have the best seat in the house. Spectators can line the course, cheer from the Village Green, grab food and drinks from local vendors, and watch every chug, sprint, and dramatic finish from just a few feet away.

At the end of the race, we’ll crown our inaugural Men’s and Women’s NA Beer Mile Champions, with awards and bragging rights on the line.

The Rules
Each runner drinks 4 non-alcoholic beers and runs 4 laps of a 400-meter course.
One NA beer must be consumed before each lap.
All beverages must be consumed within the designated transition zone.
Cans may not be opened before entering the transition zone.
No shotgunning.
Participants must complete all four laps and consume all four beverages to receive an official finish.

Heat assignments will be emailed prior to race day.
Each heat is expected to last approximately 15-17 minutes, including cleanup and course reset.
