View the highlights from our 2024 Run the Runway event at Chicago Executive Airport. We had a blast with our certified, chip timed 5K run, our 1-Mile walk and our first ever Kids Dash event. Join us on June 28th in 2025 for our TENTH year Running the Runway!

Join us in 2025 for our 10th year Running!
Race Date: Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 8:00 AM
- Registration Opens: January 1, 2025
Join us for a 5K Run, 1 Mile Walk and Kids Dash on the main runway and taxiways at Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling, Illinois. The 5K course is USATF Certified and chip timed. Hang out after your event for podium awards, music, food, giveaways and kids activities. Plus keep an eye out for Elsa and Spiderman guest appearances through the morning!
Strollers and wagons are welcome. No pets are allowed.

Participants who register prior to May 1, 2025 are guaranteed a shirt

5K Run and 1-Mile Walk registration shirts will be unisex adult sizing

Kids Dash shirts will be youth sizing

*No additional shirts will be ordered after May 1st. Supplies are limited, register today to guarantee your shirt selection.
In case of inclement weather, a cancelation call will be made by 8:30AM on event day. This is a fundraising event with proceeds benefiting local aviation scholarships. As a result, no refunds will be issued and the event will not be rescheduled.

- The Kids Dash event will be divided into two age groups. Please be at the Walkers starting arch by 8:50AM to check-in.
- Age group distances will be:
- 2-5 years old - 100 yard dash
- 6-9 years old - 1/4 mile
- Age group distances will be:
Awards
Participation awards will be distributed
For 5K participants, a Finisher Medal will be awarded to the top three placing Men and Women of each category below:
Over All Finish (any age), 5-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 and over
**Placement awards will be distributed at 8:40AM near the 5K Finish Line**

Live music, food trucks, fireworks & more...
Come back to the airport in the evening to enjoy live music, food trucks, a beer tent, static displays and fireworks at the annual joint venture between the Village of Wheeling, City of Prospect Heights and Chicago Executive Airport. No tickets required.
