About Ridge Runners Racing LLC

Ridge Runners Racing LLC is a non-profit organization created by core members of the Ridge Runners, a Christian men’s running group based in Dry Ridge, KY.

The Ridge Runners meet regularly on Saturday and Sunday mornings for group runs.  Members also communicate and often schedule additional runs throughout the week as schedules allow.  Most often, members of our group utilize these group runs to train together in preparation of participation in goal races.  Often, members of our group travel together to participate in both road and trail races throughout the year. Men 18 years old and up regardless of where they are in their running journey are cordially invited to join us each week.  All paces and distances are always welcome.  Whether you are just wanting to use running as part of your fitness routine or are looking for training partners for your next race, Ridge Runners would love to offer their support.

Our non-profit was created out of the desire to share our love of Christ with others through our shared interest in running.  We have elected to host running and ultra running events as a way to assist members of the running community pursue their goals. Our charitable branch we call Soul Purpose is our way of supporting those in our community who otherwise may not have the means or know-how to begin this journey.  Ridge Runners Racing LLC meets on the last Saturday of each month immediately following our morning group run.

What is a Mini Barnyard Ultra?

Most runners are familiar with and have run a 5K, and some may know about or even completed an ultra event. But, what is a Mini Barnyard Ultra? Simply run as many 2.083 mile loops as you can within a half hour on the half hour until you can no longer do so.  If you can’t continue or don’t finish the loop in time you are eliminated.  Why 2.083 miles? If you can remain on course for 24 hours, you will have run 100 miles.  The Little Rooster Run Mini Barnyard Ultra is designed to test who has the determination and perseverance to remain on the course the longest.  It intends to push runners to discover their own limits.  We invite you to come and venture farther than you’ve ever gone on your way to a new personal best distance.

Start/Corral

Runners in both the 5K and Mini Barnyard Ultra will need to be in the start corral inside the barn near the facility entrance no later than 5 minutes prior to the start of their race.  When the barn doors open and the rooster crows runners in both the 5K and Mini Barnyard Ultra will head out on the challenging yet picturesque 2.083 mile loop course that winds through open park green-space and canopy covered trail that boasts nearly 400 feet of combined ascent and decent before meandering along and over the dam of the fishing pond on their way to the finish line.

Runners in the Mini Barnyard Ultra will exit the finish chute at the end of each successful sub-30 minute loop.  Those with crew will report to their crew station for aid.  Runners with a “Pavilion Pass” will be granted entrance to our full-service aid station. There will be warnings sounded at 3 minutes, 2 minutes, and 1 minute before the start of the next loop.  Runners not yet eliminated must be in the corral barn before the rooster crows to start the next loop.  This will continue on the half-hour until only one runner remains who must complete a victory lap within the 30 minute time limit to be declared a finisher and therefore, winner on the Mini Barnyard Ultra.  All others will be declared a “DNF” (Did Not Finish) and will be memorialized on our “Wall of Shame” for their efforts.

Little Rooster Run Kids Fun Run

The Little Rooster Kids Fun Run will begin at 5:30 PM.  The cost will be $15 and will include an event shirt for registrations received no later than August 15, 2025 (after 8/15/25 we cannot guarantee a shirt).  The race will be 1/2 mile loop on the paved walking path at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds and Park in Glencoe, KY.  All kids will receive a special memento for their participation.

Courses

Little Rooster Run 5K

The 5K will include the 2.083 mile loop used in the Mini Barnyard Ultra with an added section near the pond before heading to the finish so participants can experience the same terrain as those who will compete in the ultra event to follow.  Athletes are encouraged to have a headlamp as it could begin to get dark this time of year on course (especially in the trail).

Little Rooster Run Mini Barnyard Ultra

The Mini Barnyard Ultra will be run entirely on the 2.083 mile loop course.  A headlamp is required for all participants in the ultra event.  There will be lighting inside the grounds but it will be dark in the trail section at 8:00 PM until daybreak on Saturday (should you have the courage to still be on course).

Crew Stations

NO Pacers will be permitted at the Little Rooster Run 5K and Little Rooster Run Mini Barnyard Ultra. However, participants in the Little Rooster Run Mini Barnyard Ultra have the option of setting up a crew tent (no larger than 10’ x 10’) in the designated area alongside the finish area.  Crew tent locations will be assigned by # on a first-come, first-serve basis. The lower the number, the closer to the finish. Runners choosing this option will be responsible for providing their own aid throughout the event. They will have access to water and/or electrolytes at the on course aid station and finish line.  Crew members are asked to remain at their station throughout the event.

Runners also have the option of purchasing a “Pavilion Pass” for an additional fee which grants them access to our full-support Aid Station.  ONLY runners with a “Pavilion Pass” will be granted access into the Pavilion Aid Station.  The Pavilion Aid station is intended to support runners without additional crew support who have purchased this option additionally.

Spectators

For the safety of all registered runners we ask that crew and spectators stay off the course throughout the entirety of the event.  There will be plenty of designated areas where patrons can view much of the course during the event.  Course Marshalls will be positioned at strategic areas to assist in ensuring that runners are not impeded in any way during the races.
