Description
Early Bird 5K is an 12 week base building program for walkers and beginning runners who are coming back to or starting a active lifestyle. This program will train participants to complete a 5K (3.1 mile) event as a walk, or combination of walking and easy pace running. The program is coached by RRCA Certified Running Coaches.
Details:
Start date and time: Tuesday, March 19 at 6:30p.
First meeting is at Herbert Well's Ice Rink in College Park.
Program Structure: The training consists of three (3) group workouts per week. Participants train as a group with head coaches and pace leaders on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings.

Tuesday Evening Training Run: begins at 6:30pm. Training will be held at Kehoe Track, University of Maryland, College Park.

Thursday Evening Training Run: begins at 6:30pm. Training runs will be held at the Herbert Wells Ice Arena in College Park (park near trail entrance far end of lot).

Sunday Morning Training Run: begins at 8:00am. Training will be held at Watkins Regional Park in Kettering MD.
Target Event: DCRCC Women's Distance Festival/ Men's Run.
Program Requirements: ages 18 and up with the ability to walk and willingness to run. All participants must be a current member or join PGRC. Membership – Prince George's Running Club (pgrc.org).
Medical Clearance: If you are under medical care, have a medical condition or have not exercised recently, we recommend that you secure a clearance from your doctor before participating in this or any training program.

Note: The DCRRC Women's Distance Festival 5k/ Men's Run registration is not included in program fee.
