Event Description

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the Detroit Auto Show and the Friends of the Outdoor Adventure Center team up to bring back the Auto Show 5K!

Join us on Saturday, January 17 at 9AM at Huntington Place. The route will take place along the Detroit Riverfront and start/finish outside the doors of the Detroit Auto Show.

All proceeds of the event will help update the exhibits at the Outdoor Adventure Center.

Tickets to the Detroit Auto Show (public days) can be purchased at a discount through the 5K event. Tickets are discounted by 25%

Adult tickets will be available for $15 ($20 at the door), senior tickets for $9 ($12 at the door), and kid's tickets for $7.50 ($10 at the door). Auto Show ticket sales end on January 10 to allow time for pick up. Prices of show tickets increase after December 1.

Early packet pick up will take place on Friday, January 16 from 4PM until 6PM at the Outdoor Adventure Center

Race day packet pick up will take place one hour prior to the race start time at Huntington Place.

Awards will be given to the top three places overall and top three places in each age category. 14 and under; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79, 80 and up

Runners: Don’t forget to show your bib at the Outdoor Adventure Center for free admission on January 17!

From 11 a.m.-3 p.m., the OAC is featuring Wheel Talk: Stories that drove the motor city.

Start your engines! Join the OAC team and local partners to celebrate the automobile heritage of the Motor City. We’ll discover the people and ideas that put the world on wheels, and why Michigan was especially suited to drive the automobile industry.

Guests can:

  • Get hands on with a custom-built rock crawler and Razor ORV, and view a custom Jeep Gladiator
  • Gain experience in automotive design and theory with professional designers, answering the question: what does the park ranger of the future need to do their job?
  • Discover the impact of automobile pollution on the Detroit River
  • Earn a Junior Ranger badge with the Motor Cities National Heritage Area
  • and much more!
