Run the Missouri Virtual Challenge

Run the Missouri is back with some exciting new changes for 2021! Celebrate Missouri's Bicentennial by joining Lewis & Clark and their Corps of Discovery on a virtual journey along the Missouri River from St. Louis to Kansas City. Run the Missouri is a virtual running and walking event that follows their journey across the state of Missouri, traveling along the Missouri River from St. Louis to Kansas City. You'll virtually traverse 371 miles of the Lewis & Clark National Historic Driving Route, which runs along the north bank of the river. To commemorate your personal expedition, you'll receive your choice of a soft cotton tee or a technical singlet - and a custom medal! If you are up for an even bigger challenge, you can sign up for the Return Journey option: a 689 mile round trip from St. Louis to Kansas City along the northern route and back to St. Louis along the southern route. Those who register and complete the round trip will receive a unique addition to add to their medal commemorating the 318 additional miles back to the Arch.

Your goal is to log any miles you travel on foot and try to cover all 371 (or 689) miles before the end of the year. Every time you log a journey into the Run the Missouri online system, you will see your location along the virtual course (complete with street view images!) and your position on the mileage leaderboard. You'll even be able to search and locate any friends and family who are participating with you!
