Dear Runners, Participants, Spectators and Volunteers,
In reference to new mandates from Gov. Roy Cooper on COVID-19, we will not be able to execute our 5K run in our normal fashion. We are focused on maintaining the mission of our race and want all of you have opportunity to help feed hungry children in our community! We have brainstormed and will be changing our normal process this year. Run 5 Feed 5 is excited to announce that our 5K will be changed to a virtual race!

During these times of uncertainty, please know that your contributions are having a HUGE impact in children’s lives all over!! Please encourage your friends and family to register and we can still have a lot of fun doing a great thing for our community. We love and appreciate you ALL!!

Run 5 Feed 5 is a 501c3 organization that hosts events throughout the year including a 5K walk in the Spring to fund programs that feed hungry children. Our mission started in 2014 with the hope of raising money and awareness for the dire childhood hunger problem in our communities. In the first five years of fundraising, over $200,000 has been raised to fight childhood hunger and we continue to expand our fundraising efforts! Right now in North Carolina, one out of every four children is going hungry, and our goal is to fight that statistic!
100% of the proceeds from our fundraising go to organizations that provide for food insecure children. One of the programs we provide funding for is the Backpack Pals. Each Friday, the backpack program sends bags of food home with food insecure children, through local Elementary, Middle and High Schools. These feeding programs are funded primarily through donations. In an effort to raise money for these programs and others that provide food for hungry children, we are currently in the planning stages of our 7th Annual RUN 5 FEED 5, which will take place at Trinity High School on Saturday, March 28, 2020.
How can you and others within your organization participate? Whether it be volunteering or walking/running in the event, there is a place for everyone. The 5K entry fee will be $30 per person and will include a custom t-shirt.
Your company can also help us by providing funds in the form of an event sponsorship or grant. You may also contribute by donating goods for our race or participant/runner “goody” bags or provide a specific service for our event. Sponsorship levels that are available are listed on the following page. Please note that sponsorships must be secured by March 13, 2020 to ensure placement on the 2020 t-shirts and other event promotional signage. This year's 5K event will be professionally chipped timed by the folks from GateCity Race Timing using the latest RFID technology. Participants will be able to see instant race results scrolling in a TV monitor or from their mobile devices. Every finisher will be able to print a paper receipt with their info, race time, overall and age group placements, this can be done just seconds after crossing the finish line! PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THE CHIP TAG LOCATED ON THE BACK OF YOUR BIB.
