Heat the Streets Run & Walk for Warmth offers participants the opportunity to register for a timed 5K run, untimed run/walk, or - new this year! - a timed 5-mile run.
Current race routes are below. Please note, routes are subject to change.
Since 2007, Metropolitan Utilities District and Omaha Public Power District have teamed up to host this annual event, with proceeds benefiting local utility assistance programs to help friends, family and neighbors in our communities pay their utility bills. The event is hosted in the cold winter months to bring attention to those who struggle to keep the lights on and heat their homes. However, utility assistance is a year-round need.
Funds raised are administered by Dollar Energy Fund, Inc., a registered 501(c)(3), and then split between M.U.D.’s Home Fund and OPPD’s Energy Assistance Program to provide assistance to our customers living in Burt, Cass, Colfax, Dodge, Douglas, Johnson, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, Richardson, Sarpy, Saunders and Washington counties. All money raised is distributed through this local network.
Dollar Energy Fund's mission is to improve the quality of life for households experiencing hardships by providing utility assistance and other services that lead to self-sufficiency.
Packet pickup will be Friday, March 3 inside the HDR lobby (1917 S. 67th St.) from 12-6 p.m., and Saturday, March 4 from 7:30-9 a.m.
