Description

Join us this year on Saturday, October 5, at our new venue at Genoa Park in downtown Columbus!

Race start time: 10:00 AM

Our mission is to help refugees and immigrants reach safety and stability, sustain self-sufficiency, and achieve successful integration into the Central Ohio community.

Community Refugee & Immigration Services (CRIS) is an independent non-profit organization that serves the growing refugee and immigrant populations in Central Ohio. Our various programs have dedicated staff members from around the world who speak many different languages. Among other things, we are a refugee resettlement agency, meaning we have a contract with the Department of State to directly receive and place refugees in our community. In partnership with Church World Service, we resettle individuals and families from all over the world.

Join us at our live and in-person event on Sunday, October 5, or virtually between Tuesday, October 1, and Sunday, October 5, 2024, to complete your 5K run or walk as we celebrate our mission and our community.

Additional Race Information

What is a Virtual Race?

A virtual race is a run or walk that can be completed by participants anytime and anywhere. Reasons to host and participate in virtual races vary, but the most prominent today is to stop the spread of the coronavirus by adhering to social distancing guidelines. Virtual participation allows us to continue to support the organizations we love, standing together even when we're apart.

Virtual How-To

Even when we cannot be together physically, we want to be able to maintain that in-person race day feel. Be sure to download the RaceJoy app to access features such as GPS location and split-tracking, automatic results posting, and customizable Send-a-Cheers from your followers and the race makers! This is suggested, but not a necessary component of your virtual race. Feel free to run and record your time independently, as well!

Early Packet Pickup

If you do not add the optional delivery, your race packets may be picked up early at the new CRIS office (4645 Executive Drive, Columbus, OH 43220) on Thursday, 10/3 3:30 - 5:00 PM or Friday, 10/4 11:30 AM - 5:30 PM.

Those adding the optional delivery during registration will have their packets delivered to them by the weekend prior to the event (October 14-15, 2023).

Parking

There is no event parking directly at Genoa Park, but there is ample parking in the immediate downtown area. The most convenient parking nearest to COSI is the City of Columbus’ underground garage immediately west of COSI, managed by LAZ Parking. The underground garage entrance may be accessed via Belle Street off of Broad. Click here for directions to this parking garage

Donations and Fundraising

If you would like to make a donation to CRIS, you can easily do that both 1) during your race registration process as an included step, or 2) separately from any race registration by clicking on the Donate button on the top of the page.

If you would like to do additional fundraising for CRIS and set up your own peer-to-peer fundraising page (and maybe a team fundraising page to have multiple individuals raising money together), that is an option too! On the donate page, simply click the "Become a Fundraiser" button and follow the steps to get your page up and running. Many help topics about donations and fundraising can be viewed here

If you fundraise $200 or more, or refer six race registrants, you can get a full refund of your registration fee! This means that a little bit of fundraising or networking can earn you a free entry! If you have any questions about this, please reach out to Tyler Reeve at Treeve@cris-ohio.org
