The Free to Move 5K returns to Nashville on March 6, 2027, two years after the inaugural Run for Alyssa 5K. 

Our first race in 2025 was our way of rallying people together, making noise and sharing Alyssa's story. It was an incredibly moving experience and a reminder that we were not alone in our hope for better, safer outdoor movement for women everywhere. We did a lot of listening in that first year, learning from women's lived experiences, industry professionals, city leaders and community organizers to try to pinpoint problems and assess real safety gaps. 

While we didn't host a race in 2026, the second year of our organization was full of activity. We took the information we learned in year one and poured ourselves into the work. We advocated for infrastructural change alongside legislators at the Tennessee State Capitol. We researched the Nashville greenways for six months to identify safety and accessibility gaps. And, we developed an incredible reactive safety strategy resource, Ready to Move, completely free for all to use. We clarified who we want to be as an organization and a force for change. 

On March 6, 2027, on the weekend of Alyssa's birthday and International Women's Day, we will return to Nashville.  This time, not as a small spark of light in the wake of tragedy, but as a resolute beacon of hope for change.

The foundation is laid. The momentum is building. The invitation is here. Women and men, moving together into a safer future for everyone, not just in Nashville but everywhere.
