SOT Past Presidents’ Fun Run/Walk

All levels of runners, walkers, and rollers are invited to participate in the 2022 SOT Past Presidents’ Fun Run/Walk! This event is a great opportunity to meet friends and make new acquaintances in a casual environment, joining SOT Past Presidents in showing support for the Society. Whether you’re in it for some friendly competition or would stick with a group, this event’s emphasis is on camaraderie, bringing together all paces and styles. 


  • Registration period: Through race start on Tuesday, March 29, at 6:45 AM (US PDT).
  • Registration is only $30, and all proceeds support the SOT Endowment Fund. 
  • Register by the early-bird deadline of March 8, 2022, to receive a complimentary souvenir T-shirt.

Proceeds from the Past Presidents’ 5K Fun Run/Walk support the SOT Endowment Fund. If you do not wish to participate in the Fun Run but would still like to contribute to the SOT Endowment Fund, complete an online donation.

Where will the race be held?
The Marriott Marquis & Marina Embarcadero, which is behind the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina hotel, along the pedestrian path that runs along the bay.

Is there a race packet that I need to pick up?
Yes, you can pick up your race bib (with chip timer attached), pins, and T-shirt (if requested) on Sunday, 7:00 am–7:00 pm, and Monday, 7:00 am–5:00 pm, at the designated Registration desk in Grand Lobby A. Race bibs can be picked up on-site the morning of the race if you are unable to pick them up ahead of time. 

When will I get my timing results?
You will be able to view your time immediately upon completion, and results will be available via a link that will be emailed after the race. 

Will there be prizes for placing in the race?
The first three male and female finishers will each receive a certificate; awards will be presented after the race, around 7:15 am.  

Will there be a place to store personal items at the race?

There will be a gear check service on-site the morning of the race. You will be provided a bag and a tie for storing personal items, along with a numbered ticket to retrieve items from staff after the race. 

I didn’t register in time to get a t-shirt; can I still get one?

If there are any extra T-shirts, they will be available on a first-come, first-served basis in the SOT Office (Room 15B in the Convention Center) on Thursday, 7:00 am–12:00 noon. Also, check out the SOT online store for additional Fun Run/Walk merchandise, including water bottles.

Where is the closest public restroom?

There will be public restrooms near the Start/Finish point, inside the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina.
