Welcome to the Virginia Ultra Triathlon, where athletes from around the world come together to experience the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Join us for an exhilarating race through Smith Mountain State Park, where every step brings you closer to discovering what you can endure. Join us for a chance to test your limits and immerse yourself in the ultra-triathlon community. Your limits will be tested, both physically and mentally, but the person you discover along the way is what allows you to endure even the unthinkable. Don’t let doubt keep you from achieving what you were set out to endure in life.
Race Weekend: September 4 to 7, 2025 (Full Schedule)
Location: Beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia at Smith Mountain Lake State Park!
Transition Area: The transition area is filled with the true meaning of the ultra triathlon community. Every athlete will have an area that they can set up as they wish. An athlete can bring or rent a tent for the transition area. If a tent is rented the athlete will also be provided with two chairs and a table. Transition will also include the timing mat, a charging station, nutrition area where meals will be served, bike mechanic area and the finish line!
Athlete Briefing & Pre Race Dinner: Race weekend kick off with athlete briefing and pre race dinner. Come meet the athletes, crew members, volunteers, staff and sponsors before the weekend kicks off.
Awards Banquet: Join us for a celebration of the weekend.
- All events, including the Double Ultra Triathlon, will be sanctioned by USA Triathlon.
- The Double Ultra Triathlon is a "Grand Prix" event sanctioned by the International Ultra Triathlon Association (IUTA), awarding 50% cup points.
- This is currently the only sanctioned ultra triathlon in the USA in 2025, giving athletes the option to compete for world cup points.

We’re one of eleven races that is a part of the International Ultra Triathlon Association. The IUTA has races happening all over the globe. It’s great to support these events just as much (or even more) than Endure Ultra Tri! These races are among the best and most prestigious out there—definitely check them out. If you decide to race at one of them, let us know! We’ll do our best to connect you with other athletes from the USA who may want to come race with you or know to cheer you on.
We are a USA Triathlon company that will have two certified USAT race directors under USA Triathlon come race day. Both Kevin and Matt McClellan will be completing the race director certification program once its available which will occur before the race packet is sent out to athletes in summer of '25 (June).
