This year, local running group, #StoryofARunner Group (SOAR),* will be hosting its 3rd annual run/walk event for all ages celebrating Global Running Day as a VIRTUAL event to follow suit with government mandated guidelines due to COVID-19 social distancing requirements. This FREE VIRTUAL fun run/walk celebrates Global Running Day observed worldwide on June 3, 2020.
VIRTUAL RACE DETAILS
Participants may complete the run/walk between June 3 and June 10, 2020. Runners and walkers of all ages can choose their distance from one mile to a 5k and their own course for this virtual run/walk. Once completed, find the Story of a Runner Global Running Day event page on Facebook and share a selfie and race details. For the health and safety of our community, we highly encourage social distancing and any groups be no more than 10 or in keeping with CDC recommendations.
Participants may purchase a #StoryofaRunner Global Running Day removable bumper sticker for $5 or a combo pack for $8 that contains a #StoryofaRunner Global Running Day removable bumper sticker and a Warm Heart, Happy Feet removable bumper sticker honoring Melissa Rogers Paton Warm Heart Fund. Stickers are 4" x 4".
Online registration ends on June 10, 2020 at 12:00pm.
High heat and humidity can be dangerous to runners. Therefore, make sure you drink plenty of fluids the morning of the race and take hydration with you on your run as well. If you feel overheated or feel dizzy, seek aid.
SUPPORTING YOUR LOCAL RUNNING COMMUNITY
SOAR has partnered with Legacy Regional Community Foundation as our 501(c)3 entity. Any sponsorship dollars and profits from removable bumper sticker sales will be held in a fund to help SOAR host future races for our community.
