Description
Welcome to the 34th Annual Hesston Recreation and Community Education Emma Creek 5K/1M run/walk.
This is our annual fundraiser to raise funds to serve our youth, who due to budgetary constraints, would not be able to participate. This race is an critical part of our mission which is "to serve our community so that people of all ages and abilities can have fun, grow and feel a sense of belonging."
If you have participated in the past, things will be a little different this year due to the construction around the high school. Please take note.
The first 600 who sign up will receive a swag bag with goodies from our sponsors as well as a 2025 Emma Creek t-shirt. The one mile will start at 9am. It is a fun run/walk, non-competitive for those who want to support us, but do not want to do a 5k. The 5k will start at 9:30am, with awards ceremony at 10:30am.
Awards are ceramic plates created by artist Lynn Lais. Emma Creek 2025 will be the last year for Mr. Lais to make the plates. Mr. Lais was a Hesston resident, but has moved to Maine. It is getting harder to create 60+ plates and be different from year to year. We have greatly appreciated his artistic works and will be truly missed. We will kick off our 35th with something new!
Awards will be given to the Top 10 overall and top 3 per age group. Age groups are 8 & younger; 9-11; 12-17; 18-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79; 80-84; and 85 and older. The awards ceremony will not be more than 30 minutes.
New this year!
If you have family or friends who want to cheer you on, but don't want to wait around... We have teamed up with the Healthy Harvey Coalition for things to do while they are waiting! We will update this more, when more information is available.
