Lace it up and join us for the second annual Victory Lap 5K Run/Walk, hosted by Sporting Kansas City, to help raise awareness and funds for The Victory Project. Participants will start and finish at the world-class home of Sporting Kansas City, Children's Mercy Park. The course begins along Sporting Way and will take you to Pinnacle National Development Center, via 98th street, including a lap around the same field where Sporting Kansas City players practice, and then back to the stadium. (There will be some short irregular inclines you experience at the training grounds, including stairs!).
Registration includes a supported race course, race t-shirt, a to-be-determined finisher item, post-race beer (21+ years old), a post-race party in Budweiser Brew House, and the unique experience of finishing inside Children's Mercy Park.
Race Options: The 5K is held on Friday, October 23rd with multiple race options.
Option 1: 'Adults' (12 years and older) may sign up for the 5K Run/Walk up until the day of the event.
Option 2: Children under 12 years old may sign up for the discounted option up until the day of the event.
Option 3: The Virtual Lap, for those who can't make it out on race day but still want the shirt and a chance at awards while supporting The Victory Project. Yes, you can join us virtually! Run whenever and wherever you want, then submit your time. We'll mail you your shirt and medal! You can submit your results on the results page here once you've finished.
Course Information: Strollers are allowed in the race. Please start behind all runners at the start line. If you are using a stroller, there is a slightly different route you will need to take at the Pinnacle training complex due to stairs that are included in the route. Please review the map on the registration page and contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Sorry, pets are not allowed at the race due to close proximity you have to the training fields.
Race T-shirt Giveaway: There are two options to race t-shirts.
Option 1 (T-shirt): Select the size you'd prefer during sign-up. To be guaranteed a race t-shirt and your specific size, please be signed up by September 15, 2020. If you are signed up after the t-shirt deadline date, then you may not receive a t-shirt. T-shirts will be available during packet pick-up and are based on availability; if you signed up after September 15th, 2020, sizes and quantities are based on availability. The Victory Lap highly suggests participants do early packet pick-up if they want a t-shirt and have signed up after the deadline.
Option 2 (No T-shirt, extra donation): If you select to bypass a t-shirt, the hard cost The Victory Lap takes for the t-shirts will be donated back to The Victory Project.
Scarves: The Victory Lap has additional scarves from the inaugural 5K left over from last year. These are available for purchase during the sign-up process. These are the finisher scarves participants received last year. For a $5 donation, you will receive one of these at packet pick-up.
The Victory Project, a foundation of Sporting Kansas City, was launched in 2013 with the goal to assist, celebrate, and encourage children battling cancer and all of life’s challenges. Since that time, we have honored more than 100 children with a VIP experience during a home match at Children’s Mercy Park. We make monthly hospital visits with our players and in 2017 we launched two impacting initiatives: Sporting Wishes and Blankets of Encouragement.
