Why (Dewey) Run 3k

The Why Dewey ("do we") Run 3K is going virtual this year.  We held out hope until the last possible moment that we would be able to hold this as a live, in-person event.  Unfortunately, the current situation and restrictions for events, limits the ability to host this as a live event.  Going virtual became the only option.  This event honors the late Carrey Dewey and her courageous 4 year battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).  Carrey was a fighter and an inspiration who took ALS head-on.  She decided almost immediately that she was going to be public and open with her daily battle with ALS.  She regularly chronicled about her daily life as her ALS progressed.  She gave us all an insight on how difficult and unmerciful ALS is.  

Carrey and her family knew a cure would not come in time for her.  But she and her family wanted to do what they could to help find a cure, so other families would not have to go through the struggles that she went through.  Eric and Carrey researched and settled on two foundations which they chose to support.  The ALS-TDI (www.als.net) and IOH- Inheritance of Hope (www.inheritanceofhope.org).  All proceeds from the Why Dewey Run 3k will go to these two charities.  

While this race is virtual the fight against ALS isn't.  The need for funding is still very real.  We ask that you sign up today to run for those who can't. On November 7th-14th, get up and walk or run your neighborhood, or go to a park with your family.  Make a point to share time with the people you care about and do your 3K (1.86 miles)  Share this moment and be a part of Team Dewey

This race was started in 2017 and was made a 3K to honor what was Carrey's over 3 year battle (at that time) with ALS.  For three years we were able to get out and pray together, celebrate the life and courage of Carrey Dewey.  While we recognize this isn't ideal, we hope you help us keep this event going, and help us Carrey on the light for another year!!  

Register before October 22nd to be guaranteed a shirt.  Unfortunately this is a hard date.  No extra shirts will be ordered.  We want all proceeds to go towards ALS!!

Online registration closes November 5th at 8pm.  Packet pick-up (get your shirt) is  November 5th 6-8pm in the Stopher Parking Lot.  The registration fee for the 2020 Why Dewey Run is $35.
