Raising Hope 5K will benefit Orphan Care Alliance (OCA). OCA is a ministry that operates throughout Kentucky and southern Indiana, mobilizing Christians to serve vulnerable children and families within the foster and adoptive community. OCA Life Coaches are trained and then matched to mentor a youth in foster care: to be their friend and walk alongside them in life when they might not have anyone else. Fostering Hope 5K --- A Family Fun Event to Raise Hope for Youth in Foster Care!
Orphan Care Alliance is a Kentucky nonprofit which serves foster, adoptive, and kinship families across Kentucky and southern Indiana. Our Fostering Hope 5K helps fund several programs that directly support children impacted by trauma. From providing Goodnight Bags to children entering the Foster Care System to providing free, trained Life Coaches to youth ages 11-19, OCA seeks to provide hope and healing to youth with foster and adoptive histories. We also provide parent Connect Groups and Family Coaches so the entire family can survive and even thrive.
Orphan Care Alliance --- Our Race Charity Beneficiary
Fostering Hope 5K benefits Orphan Care Alliance (OCA).
OCA is a ministry that serves vulnerable children and families within the foster and adoptive community across Kentucky and southern Indiana. Our 5K race continues to grow each year as does the need for Orphan Care Alliance.
In the last year, we have provided case workers to over 70 families at no cost to them through our Family Preservation program, requiring us to hire more staff to keep up with the need. The families are referred to us from state social workers as those who may lose their children to the foster care system if specific changes to their home environment are not made.
In 2024, OCA matched trained Life Coaches (mentors) with 74 vulnerable teens in the foster care system to help them walk through the challenging phase of exiting the foster care system and entering adulthood. We also provided 35 Community Impact Scholarships to youth who have had a history of foster care and/or adoption. The scholarships pay for much needed therapeutic services and trauma counseling not covered by insurance.
Thanks for your participation and donations to support our mission!
$25 donation provides crucial general support; $50 covers the cost of a background screening for a Life Coach; $75 provides a coaching call for a foster or adoptive family on the brink of disruption.
