David Raines Community Health Centers is proud to host its 21st Annual Dominate Diabetes 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. This is a FREE COMMUNITY EVENT for the region to raise awareness for diabetes, plus focus on health, wellness, and fitness. The 5k event also includes free blood pressure glucose, dental screenings, and health exhibition. We welcome individual runners and teams of five (5) or more! There will also be a Kid’s Fun Run/Walk (ages 12 and under).
· FIRST 100- PRE-REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE AN OFFICIAL RACE T-SHIRT
· Each Participant in the Dominate Diabetes 5k will receive a free admission to the State Fair on November 9, 2019.
Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. The cause of diabetes continues to be a mystery, although both genetics and environmental factors appear to play roles. Proceeds from the Dominate Diabetes 5K Run/Walk will help support FREE diabetes screening, along with patient and community education throughout Northwest Louisiana. According to the most recent research by the CDC, Louisiana is ranked 11th in the nation for people diagnosed with diabetes. The disease can lead to serious complications such as blindness, heart disease, and amputations. David Raines Community Health Centers is committed to educating the community on this debilitating disease. Your generous in-kind donation will aid us in our efforts.

5k Runners: 1st and 2nd Place male and female winners will recieve trophies for each age group.
Age Groups: 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50 and up
Team Trophies: will be give for 1st and 2nd place winners.
Packet Pick Up will be held at Run Wild (9462 Ellerbe Rd) Thursday Nov 7th from 12 pm till 6 pm and Friday Nov 8th from 10 am until 5:30 pm. Packets can also, be picked up race morning at the site starting at 7:30 am.
Only those registered on or before October 27th 2019 will be guaranteed a shirt!
