Description
Prepare yourself to go beyond your limits at the "Vest Up 4 the Fallen #SIXFIVE - Boston 2 Bourne," A a continuous 65-mile tribute walk that will push your limits to honor the memory of our fallen heroes. Beginning at dawn on at the hallowed grounds of the 54th Regiment Memorial in Boston, we embark on a journey to Cape Cod's Bourne National Cemetery.
This is not simply a walk; it is a journey of transformation, a pilgrimage of the soul, a testament to the unyielding human spirit. Every step taken, burdened by the weight of the vest symbolizing the heavy hearts of the families we honor, forces introspection. The trail, arduous and unforgiving, mirrors the struggles of those we strive to remember. It becomes a tangible representation of their sacrifices, demanding not only physical strength, but also a deep dive into the wellsprings of our own courage.
Within this journey, the bonds forged with fellow participating team members become unbreakable. We share the pain, the sweat, the doubt, and ultimately, the triumph of pushing through. But it is not merely a test of our physical limits; it forces us to confront the fundamental questions of purpose, of meaning, of what truly matters. With every step, every mile, you are challenged to confront your limitations, push past your perceived boundaries, and discover a strength you never knew you possessed. Every breath, becomes a whispered vow, a testament to their bravery and a silent pledge to honor their memory by living our lives with the same unwavering resilience. Vest Up 4 the Fallen isn't a race against the clock, a frantic dash to the finish line. It's a deeply personal odyssey, a journey that explores the physical, mental, and emotional landscapes within each one of us.
Join us as we come together in remembrance, to pay solemn tribute to those who have given their lives in service to a cause greater than themselves. Let us gather in quiet contemplation, allowing the weight of their sacrifice to settle upon our hearts. As we reflect on their unwavering bravery, their selfless dedication, and their enduring legacy, let us honor their memory by living lives worthy of their sacrifice.
Their valor inspires us to stand firm in the face of adversity, to embrace compassion and empathy, to strive for justice and equality. We stand united in our commitment to support a noble cause, one that embodies their values and continues the fight for a better world. It's a moment of profound reflection, a time to connect with the legacy of those who gave their all, and to find meaning in the echoes of their courage.
So, Let us carry their torch, carrying their spirit with us as we work tirelessly to create a future where their sacrifices are not forgotten, but cherished and honored through our unwavering commitment to the ideals they so bravely championed.

Why don't we Run?
Running allows for quicker travel, minimizing the physical and mental challenges that come with walking. This activity is designed to push you beyond your comfort level. Walking, on the other hand, is a slower process where each step reminds you of the burden you carry and the mental fortitude required to reach the end. However, this burden and mental strength pale in comparison to the immense weight, strength, mental anguish, and heartbreak that the Families of the Fallen endure daily.
Our motto “Do You Have What it Takes” and “What’s Your Why” served as a strong motivator for numerous individuals to sign up and participate in this 65-mile march. Each person's motivation was unique, and each individual delved deep to find an answer to the question “Do You Have What it Takes” and “What’s Your Why”

What's the significants of wearing the Vest?
The Vest is a powerful symbol of honor and remembrance, serving as a poignant tribute to commemorate the profound sacrifices made by our brave military members. This specialized piece of equipment is far more than just a simple garment - it represents the unwavering spirit, unbreakable bond, and steadfast determination that exists among those who have selflessly served their country. It becomes a tangible representation of the immense courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment that defines the military ethos. When worn, it is a visceral reminder of the high price that has been paid to defend our freedoms, with each patch, insignia, and adornment carrying the weight of immeasurable loss and invaluable service.
Those who don the Vest are not merely individuals, but rather members of a sacred brother/sisterhood, united in their mission to honor the memory of the fallen and ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten. This physical burden, though uncomfortable, is a small price to pay for the true weight lies not in the vest itself, but in the profound sorrow and grief borne by the loved ones of those who serve, a burden far heavier than any physical strain.
The Vest Up 4 The Fallen Movement is a powerful call to action, inviting all who have been touched by the bravery and heroism of our service members to join in this solemn duty. By carrying the weight of the fallen forward, we not only pay tribute to their legacy, but also pledge to support the families they have left behind, ensuring that their loved ones are never alone in their grief.
How much should your Vest Weight: Ultimately you decide but we suggest you DO NOT CARRY HEAVY!
Can I Wear a Ruck?
We encourage those who want to participate to wear a vest because of what it represents but we will not condemn anyone if they wear a ruck.

5. Pre-hydrate before you start and continue to hydrate during the event. Electrolyte replacement is just as important as hydration. Gatorade, Power Aid drinks. Hydration powders can help with that.
If its hot out, keeping your core body temperature as low as possible is also a vital component when being active in the heat. If you are feeling over heated or are getting hot you can pour cold water on your head and neck and to slow your pace are two great ways to help keep your body’s temperature under control.
***** If you stop to use the bathroom YOU CAN NOT be driven to catch up you must do what it takes to catch up to the team even if it means running. Why?? Because getting into a car only cheats yourself but most of all those you are doing it in honor of....... Our Fallen Heroes, Period!

How did -Vest Up 4 The Fallen, Boston 2 Bourne first start?
In 2020, as the Covid-19 pandemic brought life to a standstill and led to the cancellation of Memorial Day Ceremonies nationwide, the President and Founder of Give2Those.org witnessed numerous Gold Star Families, Veterans, Active Duty Members, and Patriots expressing their disappointment on social media. They were disheartened by the cancellation of events across America, prompting her to firmly believe that Memorial Day should never be canceled. With this conviction, she set a personal goal to honor the fallen by embarking on a 65-mile trek from Boston Common to Massachusetts National Cemetery. Wearing a vest as a symbol of honor and remembrance for the sacrifices made in service to our nation, she was joined by close friends from Gold Star Families, Active Duty Members, First Responders, and Patriots who united to walk alongside her and fulfill the mission. Following the event, many individuals reached out to express their desire for this event to continue. Now, in 2021, we find ourselves preparing for another journey this May. This endeavor will demand your utmost dedication, requiring every ounce of your physical and mental strength. The question remains: DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES!!!!
The team will be raising funds for Give2Those.org a 501c3 non-profit organization
Give2Those is committed to creating and backing recreational therapy programs that strive to improve the physical, mental, and emotional health of individuals. Our main emphasis is on veterans, active duty personnel, and first responders, as well as their families. We do so by empowering, motivating, and nurturing relationships, through Vest Up 4 the Fallen and Operation RPG (Resilience - Persistence - Grit). Furthermore, Give2Those extends support to our brave heroes and their families through the Hand Up 4 Our Heroes.
