Over the past year we have been hard at work planning and preparing for the Under Armour KELLY St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock 5k. The last 2 weeks have been spent closely monitoring the evolving situation regarding COVID-19 both in our area, and internationally. We are very fortunate to have the knowledge and wisdom of our friends at MedStar Health to guide our decisions when health and safety are involved. After consulting with our medical team this morning we have come to the conclusion that it would be irresponsible to hold a mass gathering on Sunday. We have decided to cancel the 2020 Under Armour KELLY St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock 5k.
While the decision to cancel was one we did not take lightly, ultimately the “right” decision was clear. The safety and security of our runners, volunteers, staff, partners, and spectators are always our main concern.
All registrations for the 2020 race will be automatically deferred to the 2021 race. Any registrant who had previously paid to defer their 2020 entry to 2021 will have their deferral fee refunded. If you registered for the 2020 Under Armour B3 Distance Series presented by KELLY you will still receive your Shamrock 5k medal and holder. All remaining packet pickups will still take place as scheduled, and we will send out additional communication regarding medal pickup. As noted during the registration process we are unable to offer refunds for this event.
We wanted to see you in your sea of green running down Charles Street and kicking off the race season with your smiling faces. I understand your disappointment and appreciate your understanding as we navigate through this process together. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us at email@example.com
