RACE DAY INFORMATION!!
This year you have two options to pick-up your race bib and apparel (if you ordered it).
#1 – Sat., 9/23. Beat the rush and head to RunMoore running store (13 Liberty St., Westminster, MD). We are thankful for their support and sponsorship. Check out their great running stuff while you’re there! (It's also Fallfest in Westminster)
#2 – Race Day. Arrive between 6:30 – 7:30 a.m. on race-day to pick up your bib/t-shirt at the PRE-REGISTRATION table
**Please note: All Race timing chips NEED to be picked up on race-day. If you’ve already picked up your bib ahead of time, go directly to the timing chip table and show your bib to pick up your chip!**
Please carpool if possible! We expect a record crowd. When you arrive, you will see several parking attendants directing you where to park. Please make sure to follow their directions. When you arrive and leave, please be aware of runners and spectators around the area.
Race Day Registration - WRRC Members Only! 6:30 - 7:30 a.m.
Apparel and Merchandise
Check out the merchandise table both before and after the race. We will be selling mason jars, koozies, and any extra apparel available. There will be a limited number of short sleeve shirts available. ALL PRE-ORDERED APPAREL MUST BE PICKED UP BY RACE START.
We will begin the pre-race briefing (on the parking lot by the port-a-potties) at 7:50 AM. The race will start (on the road) as close to 8:00 AM as possible.
Please make sure that each person picks up their own packet and chip based on their own last name. Only the first runner from the relay needs to be on the start line. If you are the 2nd runner, you'll wait approximately 7.3 miles before your partner comes in. The relay exchange point is located in the grass between the finish area and the bathrooms.
This course is marked on the road. All miles are marked on the road. Please run against traffic and look for the mile markers that are staked into the ground. The course is open to traffic.
There will be three stops with water AND Gatorade on the course. You'll pass two of the stops twice during the race. It's going to be warm so please stay hydrated! Many thanks to the McDaniel College, Winters Mill HS Cross Country teams, and other volunteers for working the water stops and elsewhere on course!
All turns/intersections on the course will have marshals assigned to them. They are there to direct you safely through a turn/intersection and to assist you in any way. All marshals have a cell-phone in case of needed assistance. Course marshals are to stay at their location until all runners have passed.
Race SAG vehicle (Silver Prius or White Equinox)
There will be a race official in a car out on the course with some supplies and a cell phone. Don't hesitate to flag them down if you need any assistance!
Thanks to Jim & Kristina Schroeder for volunteering as our race photographers! They will also be taking pictures during the race. Pictures will be available FOR FREE within a week of the race.
Port-a-pots are located ONLY at the start/finish. There are none on course. You will pass by the start/finish area again at approximately 7.3 miles.
The race finishes OFF the road in front of the registration building. Look for flagging/people directing you through the right turn. Remember to stop your watches when you finish. There will be volunteers helping you with your timing chips. Your commemorative pottery medal will be waiting for you!
We will have water, gatorade, apple cider, apples, apple fritters, and other snacks for you once you finish the race. Enjoy some snacks while cheering on the rest of the finishers. Our race officials will, in the meantime, work to calculate the results. Please do not disturb them. We will announce overall and age-group awards around 10:30 AM or shortly thereafter. Please be patient and feel free to finish up the rest of your long training run or enjoy a long cool-down. We'll be cleaning up from the race until 11:30 AM and will hold onto your awards for you until then.
Sponsors & Volunteers
Most importantly, we want to thank those that make this race such a success each year. RunMoore has provided assistance and running supplies for the race while Baugher's helped with the awards and after-race food. Under the Sun Pottery created the medals and winners awards. But, our biggest thank you is to our volunteers. We thank each one of them that are willing to help in whatever capacity they could. We especially thank the McDaniel Cross Country and Winters Mill High School Cross Country teams for helping at the water stations. Also be sure to thank the police officers that you see around the course that will help keep you safe during your run!
