Race overview

Sunday, November 2nd in Kennebunk, Maine & Virtual Globally

Registration is now open! Join us on November 2nd, 2025 for an unforgettable event the whole family will enjoy along the scenic coast of southern Maine!

Proceeds from this event will go towards METAvivor to support stage 4 breast cancer research, Dana Farber Cancer Institute to support pediatric cancer research and to Cancer Can Suck a Cactus to support our mission to foster a global community that empowers and enables exercise—because research has shown that cancer hates exercise (read why below).

Kennebunk racers

  • Start your race at the gorgeous Webhannet Golf Club, run along the Kennebunk coast, through charming neighborhoods & then back to the Club for post-race snacks, beverages and finisher medals.
  • The course is in the process of being distance certified and we will have professional timing this year!

Virtual racers

  • We are hoping to beat our record from last year with both number of states (19) and number of countries (7)! We will be updating a map as people register across the globe.

Why does cancer hate exercise?

1. Cancer Prevention:

  • Reduced Risk: Exercise can lower the risk of bladder, breast, colon, endometrial, adenocarcinoma, esophageal, renal, and gastric cancers by 10% to 20%. Research is ongoing for other cancer types.

2. Cancer Survival:

  • Mortality Reduction: For breast, colorectal, or prostate cancer patients, exercise can decrease cancer-specific and overall mortality rates by 40% to 50%. Research is ongoing for other cancer types.

3. Exercise Guidelines:

  • Weekly Activity: Aim for 150-300 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise or 75-150 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity.
  • Resistance Training: Include twice-weekly progressive resistance exercises targeting all major muscle groups.

4. Cancer Treatment Benefits:

  • Symptom Improvement: Robust evidence shows that exercise improves symptoms among people living with or beyond cancer treatment.
  • Immune Boost: Exercise enhances the circulation of immune cells that attack cancer and may improve the effectiveness of immunotherapy treatments.
