“You Are Not Forgotten” is a promise to American service members, and their families, who are part of the POW/MIA remembrance movement, which honors and remembers our prisoners of war and missing in action. Many service members suffered as prisoners of war over decades of conflict. Many of them made it home, but tens of thousands never did.
In the United States, the third Friday in September honors National POW/MIA Recognition Day. Each year since 1989, a presidential proclamation brings the nation together to remember and honor the members of the Armed Forces who remain missing in action or are prisoners of war. The day serves as a call to action, reminding the nation to rededicate our efforts, as we’re responsible for bringing our patriots home and for caring for our military families awaiting word of their loved ones.
The POW/MIA Recognition Day Virtual Race benefits The National League of POW/MIA Families, whose mission is to obtain the release and return of all prisoners, the fullest possible accounting for the missing, and the repatriation of remains of those not yet recovered who died while serving our nation. It is our pleasure to announce that net proceeds of the POW/MIA Recognition Day Virtual Race will be donated directly to The National League of POW/MIA Families.
This Virtual Race can be completed wherever you are, and to any distance or discipline that you desire. You will be mailed an awesome event shirt (first 75 registrants only) and bib!
