The University of Michigan Athletics Department and U-M health professionals are closely monitoring the spread of COVID-19 and the resulting impact on our communities. In alignment with the University’s protocols, the 2021 Big House 5K will take place as a virtual race that you can run or walk at the location of your choice. Participants will receive a race packet by mail that includes a race shirt, race bib, race medal & replica Go Blue M Club Supports You banner.
Participants will run or walk the 5K distance on their own, or with their family, and share it via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with #BigHouse5K.
Upon completion, participants can submit their times to receive a certificate of completion.
In 2020, more than 7,000 virtual race participants raised $107,000 for our six local, non-profit beneficiaries. We are excited to partner with six local beneficiaries this year to provide a platform on which they can raise awareness and funds in support of their cause.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions at bighouse5k@umich.edu.
We look forward to seeing where you jump up and touch the banner on race weekend. Go Blue!
For 2021, a guaranteed $12 of each participants' registration fee will be split evenly and donated to the six official non-profit race beneficiaries. The chosen beneficiaries address key areas of need including food insecurity, social services, education and literacy, and medical research - all of which demonstrated an additional need during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our 2021 beneficiary partners include:
