Description

MIOCA is proud to present our Mother's Day Time to Teal Run/Walk in Downtown Ann Arbor on Sunday, May 11, 2025!

Grab your family and friends to join us for our annual Mother's Day Time to Teal 5K and Fun Run! This event is an opportunity for us to gather to celebrate the incredible women in our lives, while raising crucial ovarian cancer awareness in our community.

Both the 5K and one mile Fun Run are walker-friendly!

We are honored to continue the tradition of this race inspired by our co-founder Pam Dahlmann, who lost her mother to ovarian cancer and sought a meaningful way to celebrate her memory on Mother’s Day. Sadly, Geri Fournier, co-founder of MIOCA, whose memory this honors, lost her battle in 2011.

Through this event, we aim to raise vital awareness for this often overlooked and under-researched disease, while honoring those impacted by ovarian cancer.   The event continues today to bring together mothers, daughters, family, and friends while supporting the fight against ovarian cancer.

All proceeds from this race benefit the Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance.

FUNDRAISING

Individual Fundraiser: Everyone can create an "individual fundraiser" when signing up for Time To Teal. You can choose to raise money yourself or be a part of a team fundraiser. You have to have an individual fundraiser set up to join a Team Fundraiser.

Team Fundraiser: Fundraising teams are groupings of individual fundraisers working together to raise money.

How to JOIN a Team Fundraiser:

  • An individual fundraiser is required to join a Team Fundraiser.
  • On the "Become a Fundraiser" page, choose a Team Fundraiser from the list in the drop down menu, create your own Team Fundraiser, or skip this step to keep your fundraiser as an individual fundraiser.
  • If an individual fundraiser is part of a Team Fundraiser, the individual should share their individual fundraising link. The donation amount will count towards the individual's total, and the team total.
  • If just the Team Fundraiser link is shared with donors, then the donation will only count towards the team fundraiser total.

Fundraising Incentives:

  • There will be a Grand Prize for the top Team Fundraiser, as well as the individual who raises the most money for MIOCA for this event. The winners will be announced at the event!
  • In addition, there are individual fundraising incentives for those that raise either $100, $250, or $500!

ABOUT MIOCA

Established in 2011, the Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance strives to promote the early detection of ovarian cancer and help find improved treatment outcomes. MIOCA raises awareness of ovarian cancer, provides resources and support to survivors and their families, advocates both locally and federally, educates Michigan communities, and funds innovative ovarian cancer research.

The Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MIOCA) is a Community Partner of the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance.

MIOCA serves the public by educating both women and healthcare professionals to better recognize ovarian cancer symptoms for earlier detection and get survivors into treatment sooner. MIOCA is invested in Michigan’s scientific community by awarding ovarian cancer research grants totaling $800,000 to date. What is raised in Michigan, stays in Michigan, as MIOCA works on behalf of the ovarian cancer community.
