Mental Health Movement Challenge

Sun May 1 - Tue May 31

Description

Get moving in the name of mental health! Commemorate Mental Health Awareness Month throughout May with the Mental Health Movement Challenge. This month-long event from the Hope Network One in Five Series is open to participants worldwide at no cost. The goal is simply to log an activity at least 15 times during the month.  All types of movement are welcome (and encouraged) – from miles run to time on the yoga mat, neighborhood walks or cycling sessions. It’s all about getting moving for mental health – your own, and your community’s.

Log activities, share milestones, raise support, and move as much as you can to make a difference for mental health. Join us and #moveformentalhealth!

Move for Mental Health

Share with the One in Five community as you move for mental health! Log photos through the challenge website when you enter activities, use the hashtags #moveformentalhealth or #forthe1in5, or send your photos to foundation@hopenetwork.org. Stay tuned to your email, Facebook, and Instagram throughout the month for updates and inspiration as we complete the challenge together.

Fundraising Challenge

This challenge isn’t just about awareness – it’s about action. As you get out and get moving, you can also help support crucial mental health services by inviting family and friends to contribute in honor of your challenge. All funds raised will go toward mental health programs and services supported by the Hope Network Foundation.

Logging Activities

Navigate to the 'results' tab in the menu to upload your activities, review your progress, and see how your fellow challenge participants are doing!

You can also submit activities by going to your personal RunSignup profile, and clicking 'submit virtual results' underneath the Mental Health Movement Challenge event.

About the Hope Network One in Five Series

The Hope Network One in Five Series is a collection of races and challenges to get people moving for mental health. One in five adults will face a mental illness in any given year, and that number is growing. Wherever you live, it’s all around you – and the numbers prove it:

  • Depression is the #1 cause of illness and disability worldwide
  • Nearly 60% of mental illness goes untreated
  • Suicide is the third leading cause of death among youth ages 10-24
  • More than 50% of people will be diagnosed with a mental health illness or disorder at some point in their lifetime

When you join a One in Five Series event, you address the issue head-on by becoming part of a global community committed to turning the conversation about mental health issues into action. That’s what the One in Five Series is all about – reducing the effects and stigma of mental illness with every stride, stretch, and session. Moving for your own mental health, while supporting your community’s as well.
