Walk for Warmth 2020 Cancelled
Dear Sponsors and Donors –
Due to the new protocols in place from the Governor, Community Action of Allegan County has decided to cancel our Walk for Warmth event on March 21. We thank you for your willingness to sponsor and support our event and the critical need for utility assistance. In the face of this pandemic, we know that these funds are needed more now than ever.
Your health and safety is our primary concern, and we thank you for your understanding as we work through this process. We look forward to continuing to partner with you as we help those in need.

Description
We believe that when families get the right resources at the right time, our community becomes stronger and more resilient. Community Action is excited to join the statewide effort to raise awareness concerning people experiencing heat-related emergencies with our Walk for Warmth 5K Run/Walk at The Lynx in Otsego from 9 am to 11 am. Hosts State Senator Aric Nesbitt and State Representative Mary Whiteford will be joined by Congressman Fred Upton to shine a spotlight on the need for emergency utility assistance in Allegan County and raise funds for families in Allegan County facing shut-off notices.
In 2018, utility assistance was the number one reason for Allegan County Residents calling United Way 2-1-1 for assistance, making up 32% of all calls made in the county. Last year Community Action kept 177 families warm through the cold winter months.
This is a family-friendly untimed run/walk. Adult registration is $35 and includes a long sleeve quarter zip athletic shirt*. Children ages 5-12 can attend for $15 and children under 5 are free to participate. All proceeds assist families in Allegan County facing utility shut-off notices.
