Alice's Race

Join us for a 5k run/walk and a 1 mile fun run in our continuing effort to raise funds in honor of Alice Hutchison for the Alice's Playground Project.  This is a fundraiser effort that was put into place before we lost our sweet friend. This race is in honor and memory of our sweet friend, Alice, who passed away suddenly in March just 6 days shy of her 8th birthday of complications from a genetic disorder she had called GNAO1. This is a very rare disease. Alice had a heart of gold and made everyone she met love a little harder. Before her passing, her elementary school student council at Bryant had begun a fundraiser for new playground equipment so ANY child could play. Alice was wheelchair bound, but LOVED being outside with her friends. This race will help raise funds for Owosso Public Schools Bryant Elementary in building an accessible playground all students can enjoy for years to come. We are so thankful to everyone for all the love and support for this project this far and we hope with this race we will help make this a reality.

We have a 5k route for our seasoned runners and walkers and a 1 mile Fun Run for all of our young friends/anyone who doesn’t want to do the 5k to help support the project. 

When: Sunday October 6, 2024  5k @ 9am  1Mile @ 10am

Where: Start/Finish Kiwanis Ball Field.  Routes will follow James Minor River Trail. See course maps for full route details.  

Who:  Any and Everyone!!   Strollers are welcome!  This is meant to be a family friendly event. We just ask Please no pets.  Rain or Shine we will run for Alice!!

Pricing: Adults $30 until 9/22 with a t-shirt guaranteed, $35 from 9/23 to 10/05 t-shirts are available as supplies last, $40 on race day no shirts available. Kids 1 mile is $20 until 9/22 with a t-shirt guaranteed, $22 from 9/23 to 10/05 t-shirts are available as supplies last, $25 on race day no shirts available. Special pricing for the 5k for kids under 18 and families registering together. Extra shirts available for purchase during registration for only $20. 

Awards: Overall award for the top male, female and non-binary. First place in Male and Female age groups 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. 

Finishers Medals: will be handed out at the finish line. We anticipate that we will run out as we have 200 medals and close to 300 total participants. We'd love for every kid to receive a medal, and will hand them out accordingly. 

Early Packet Pickup: Saturday, October 5th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 pm at The Sideline Sports Bar in Owosso, 219 S Washington St, Owosso, 48867. 

Race Day Packet Pickup: Race day morning, Sunday October 6th starting at 8:00 am. 

Parking: Please use the NCG Movie theater lot and side streets for parking during the race. 

Results: Live during the event and posted on this website. The race will be professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation. 

Virtual Event: If you are unable to attend in person but would like to participate virtually we have that option for you. The cost is $35 and includes a t-shirt and finishers medal.  Kids 18 and under are only $25 for the virtual event. Virtual registration will close on September 30th.
