Virtual Run for the Ribbon Run/Walk

Sun June 21, 2020 Rochester, MI US 48309

Please join in the celebration of fathers, husbands, grandfathers, sons and friends this Father’s Day in our Virtual Run for the Ribbon event! Walk or run in your neighborhood on June 21, 2020, as you support the men in your life in their journey of prostate cancer survivorship.

Due to Covid-19, we’re not able to meet and walk together at the Detroit Zoo. Instead, we encourage you to walk on your own in your neighborhood or on your treadmill.

Your registration of $30 includes a virtual packet containing a letter from the president, an "In Celebration Of" sign to hang in your front window, a "supporter" bib to wear on your shirt, and a certificate of completion with printed medal. All money raised will go toward funding a man at our Men’s Health Event this fall screening for prostate cancer and other tests valued over $2,000!

The Men's Health Event is an annual event put on by MIU Men's Health Foundation, a 501(c)3 dedicated to men's health advocacy and awareness, education, research and treatment of prostate cancer and men's health related issues.

The annual Men’s Health Event provides a comprehensive health screening and health education for those most in need and will be more important in 2020 than ever. For many attendees, it will be their only healthcare throughout the year. It is critical that our programs continue, as our additional services for mental health and financial health through job fair opportunities address men’s health in its entirety. By removing some of the socioeconomic barriers, we will in turn be able to improve health disparities.

Thank you for your support of prostate cancer survivorship and raising funds to get more men screened for early detection!

About MIU Men's Health Foundation

What does the MIU Men's Health Foundation do? Take a look at just a few of our program and services to learn more!

  • In 2019, The Men’s Health Event at Ford Field provided over 14,000 FREE life-saving screenings to over 1100 attendees identifying skin cancer, prostate cancer, oral cancer, abnormal EKGs and more! Men are given proper follow up care to treat these early abnormal findings.  This event will be needed in 2020 more than ever with men not getting their routine check-ups. Did you know it's predicted that 22,600 diagnoses of prostate cancer will be either missed or delayed this year because of Covid-19?
  • The Blue Fund, providing limited short-term financial assistance to prostate cancer patients during their active treatment, has given out 81 grants totaling over $57,000 of financial support since 2016!
  • The Prostate Cancer Survivorship Series continues to impact prostate cancer survivors and their families as they turn in to our virtual events on Facebook. "An Evening with Mitch" is scheduled for June 3rd. Tune into @MIUMensHealth on Facebook at 6:00pm to hear his survivorship story.

What else do we have planned for Men's Health Week this June? Join us at our other signature events!

  • Cogs and Kegs turned virtual due to Covid-19 and a virtual ride will take place the entire month of June. Each $20 donation and 20 miles you ride will get a man screened at this fall's Men's Health Event!
  • Blue Monday falls on Monday, June 15, 2020. We won't be able to meet at Campus Martius, but we can still wear blue, do something healthful and post it on social media to increase awareness of the men's health movement in Detroit and beyond!
