Description
Lake Superior State University men's and women's cross country and track & field are hosting the 2nd Annual Sault Strut 5K (9:00am) and 200m Kid's Run (8:40am). Run or walk the Thanksgiving themed event on Saturday, November 18, at 9am. Packet pickup will only be available on race morning near the start/finish area at the Indoor Track beginning at 7:00am. All participants will receive a Sault Strut medal. Age group pies for 1st place in 5K age groups 0-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+. $5 gift cards to Bird's Eye Outfitters for 2nd place in your 5K age group. The course is flat and fast mostly on bike path with the start/finish on the indoor track inside Norris Center. The 200m kid's run will start at 8:40am and be 1 lap around the indoor track. All kids will receive a goodie bag when they finish. $5 registration for the 200m kid's run. Hot chocolate and coffee will be available to keep you warm and we have the added benefit of indoor restrooms as well. Turkeys provided by City Commissioner, Steve Habusta, will be given to the top 4 overall male and female finishers as well as the top male and female over 40 years of age. A costume contest will follow the race with an additional award for best dressed. All proceeds go directly to support the travel and gear for the men's and women's cross country and track teams at LSSU. We hope to see you there dressed up in your finest Thanksgiving apparel! Start and Finish inside Norris Center on Indoor Track not shown on map. Makes for 5k distance total. Will run on bike path if clear. If there is significant snowfall will run on road once course gets to Meridian St. about 400m into race. First 400-800m of bike path (LSSU property) will be plowed if snow prior to entering road.
