Are you ready for a true test of endurance, speed, and grit? Welcome to the MIDNIGHT Rat Race UNSANCTIONED, an event tailored for the hardcore, the brave, and those seeking an unparalleled challenge. This sucker is not for the faint of heart, losers, or whiners out there.
Race Details:
- Start Time: As the clock strikes midnight, the race begins. October 24th marks the date where only the brave will step up to the challenge.
- Course: This race is unique—no course markings, no volunteers, no directions. It’s just you, the night, and your determination. Navigate from point A to point B in the quickest way you can.
- Distance: Approximately 13 miles lie between the start and end locations. How you traverse this distance is up to you.
- Terrain: Sidewalks, roads, alleys, grass—choose your path wisely. The urban landscape of the night is your playground.
- Time Limit: You have a maximum of 3 hours and 15 minutes to reach the finish line, after that- we're calling the cops to head out and look for you.
This race demands strategy, resourcefulness, and resilience. Without the usual race-day amenities and support, you're left to rely on your instincts and abilities. Do you have what it takes to conquer the MIDNIGHT Rat Race UNSANCTIONED?
Note: This event is unsanctioned and presents inherent risks. Participants must prioritize their safety and be aware of their surroundings at all times. This race is for experienced runners who understand and accept the challenge.
What You Get. (2025 Coming Soon)
We know you aren't in it for the swag because let's be honest, you're an animal and only wear a shirt to weddings and funerals, BUT, you get a couple things with registration:
- A pretty cool retro inspired race shirt to remember your confusing and stupid night.
- Custom Race Bib
- Stuffed Mouse
- Lottery Ticket
- Post-Race Munchies
Rule Stuff
Things you MUST DO:
- Register, duh.
- Use a GPS tracking watch from start to finish
- Run a minimum of 12 miles. Doesn't matter if you break space and time between point A and B, unless you have hit at minimum 12 miles on your gps tracking watch, you can not finish- or win.
- Stop at a minimum of one gas station between point A & B and video yourself eating a hotdog, piece of pizza, or hamburger. We don't care if you are running while eating but the first all the way to the last bite have to be on video.
- In between point A & B, you must swing through the Downtown Springfield Square and take a selfie for evidence.
- If you drop out, you must notify event staff.
Things you CAN'T DO:
- Use anything but your God given feet to get from point A to B.
- Punch another participant, no dip.
- Cross onto any property that it appears you are not allowed: (ex. inside a closed building, onto someones residence, through a gate or chain that says PRIVATE PROPERTY.) Use your brain.
- Break traffic laws
Things you should PROBABLY HAVE:
- Running Shoes
- Money/Card (for the gas station item)
Things you MUST HAVE:
- GPS Enabled Watch or App (ex. Garmin, Coros, Strava, Map My Run, Tom Tom, etc., you get it)
- Race Bib on the front of your body
