The swim will start from the beach and swim straight out to the right of the first buoy, turn left for a short distance to the second buoy, then back around to complete the triangle by swimming back to the beach. You should swim by the buoys next to your left shoulder.
There will be a police officer managing traffic at the intersection of Edgewood and Wisconsin. Be sure to stay to the right, and we strongly encourage you to choose the road instead of the bike path. Many pedestrians walk pets on the bike path and could present a problem for cyclists.
There will be cones and a volunteer at the turnaround point up E Lakeshore Dr. Mind your speed at the turnaround point as the left shoulder of the road is next to a steep drop-off. You will then back-track the same course back to the transition area. Always bike on the right side of the road and only pass athletes on the left, calling out loudly when doing so.
The run will go north on Lakeside Blvd, north on Dakota Ave, then turnaround to go South on Dakota Ave to Edgewood Place. The run course is TWO LAPS. On the second lap, you will run north on Washington Ave and take a left back to the transition area, where the finish line will be.
