IMPORTANT UPDATES!!!

Due to forecasted thunderstorms and for the safety of the band, participants and volunteers, the Town of Indian Trail and Common Heart are canceling the scheduled festival. As a result, the Retro Run is going totally virtual. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.

Run (or walk) wherever you want and upload your results for the Virtual 5K by midnight on Saturday, May 21. No matter where you are, you can continue to raise awareness for over 26,500 Union County residents experiencing food insecurity.

Join us Saturday, May 21 at Chestnut Square Park OR run (or walk) the Retro Run 5K wherever you want and upload your results!

The Retro Run 5K is a great opportunity to design a super-retro running outfit, use your imagination and bring some color to this fun-filled event!

This event is co-sponsored by the Town of Indian Trail. Come out and enjoy a FREE concert after the race plus food, vendors & Common Things Pop-up Shop! 

NOTE: Event will happen rain or shine! We will continue to provide updates in as timely a manner as possible. Should the need arise to cancel the in-person 5K, all in-person registrations will be converted to virtual 5K registrations. Retro Run 5K registrations are NON-REFUNDABLE.

In-Person Race Guidelines

Run the 5K course through Indian Trail, NC on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 4:00PM. 

Included in your in-person registration fee: race shirt and race bib. Race shirts are guaranteed to all participants who register by May 7, 2022. For registrations received after May 7, t-shirts are available on a first come, first serve basis, while supplies last. Retro Run 5K registrations are NON-REFUNDABLE.

Medals will be awarded to the top male and female finishers (1st, 2nd & 3rd) and to the top three finishers (1st, 2nd, 3rd) in each age group. Awarded age groups: 13-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & Up (Male & Female). 

The health and safety of our community is our top priority. As we look ahead to the Retro Run 5K, we will follow the guidance and recommendations from our local, state and national government regarding the safety of our in-person race. We will continue to provide updates in as timely a manner as possible. Should the need arise to cancel the in-person 5K, all in-person registrations will be converted to virtual 5K registrations. 

Virtual Race Guidelines

For this virtual run, you get to choose the racecourse and your start time! Run around your neighborhood, favorite park or anywhere else of your choice. All you have to do is complete your run or walk between May 14, 2022 – May 21, 2022, then upload your time to be recognized for this accomplishment with all of our runners!  

Included in your virtual registration fee: race shirt, race bib, and participant medal. Participant medals are guaranteed to the first 50 registered virtual participants. Race shirts are guaranteed to all participants who register by May 7, 2022. For registrations received after May 7, t-shirts are available on a first come, first serve basis, while supplies last. Retro Run 5K registrations are NON-REFUNDABLE.

About Common Heart

THE RETRO RUN IS COSPONSORED BY COMMON HEART AND THE TOWN OF INDIAN TRAIL SUPPORTING THE WORK OF COMMON HEART AND ITS VOLUNTEERS IN THE COMMUNITY. 

Founded in 2006, Common Heart works to create a “small revolution of kindness” in our community to eradicate food insecurity and eliminate generational poverty.

The 501(c)3 nonprofit with locations in Indian Trail and Marshville, serves under-resourced families and individuals who live in Union County and the surrounding area through 10 food pantry outreaches serving an average 4,500 individuals each month. Common Heart's Economic Empowerment programs provide focus groups and resource building programs to move under-resourced families into stability.
